      Sky blocking my outgoing emails

I have my own domain email address that I have forwarded to a free yahoo account for storage.

I download the emails from yahoo into my email client and outgoing emails are sent through my own smtp server so that the from: field appears as name@mydomain.com

It's been a great system I have used for years with multiple ISPs to get essentially my own free personalized email.

A month or so ago sky started blocking my smtp server. I don't want to use skys smtp server because the sender field will always contain user@sky.com

I've read other threads from people complaining about this, and I am aware you are offering a discount to auth-smtp. But still, it stings a bit to have to pay for something I have been able to host myself for years!

What's to stop them blocking my other servers: Web, ssh, remote desktop! Do I have any recourse to get sky to unblock me? I'm not breaking any rules and they have essentially reduced the service they were giving me before!

You don't have to pay for SkyUser's own SMTP server which is completely free. There is a whole forum dedicated to it but this thread should be of use:

I use the same system (ie my own domain and email from my domain name). It works 100% with Sky. I also send from my email client through both Yahoo and GMail servers. I can download using my email client (Opera) from my domain name, Yahoo, GMail and a couple of others.

dms05 - its only an issue if you run an SMTP server from your Sky home account.
I run my own SMTP server at home, I had to sign up with dyndns's mailhop system in order to send my mail from the server. I did this before skyuser launched their SMTP server.
Its all about Sky stopping spammers hijacking peoples home PC's and using them to spam the world.
