Imap
Here I was quite happily using sky broadband accessing my emails via outlook at home on 2 PC’s and a laptop. i also accesed my email at work on my pc and even on my mobile via wifi wherever I could get a signal. For those that don’t know, the only way to do this is to use IMAP, that way all the messages stay on the server and wherever you are and whatever you use to connect to your email e.g. outlook express, you can get all your emails. Then DISATER Google took over the email.
Now if I check my email at work it downloads all the emails since I last checked, and puts them in my works outlook, I then go home and want to show my partner an email that was sent to us, and its not there! Yes I do know that I can log into the sky website and get it to reset itself and resend all the emails but why should I when using imap would mean I just have to open outlook. This is a really sad turndown of features offered by sky. Maybe it was not officially offered before but at least the sky techies had the sense to make it available, so why not Google? It is an internationally recognised email standard, it works so much better than the solution they have come up. I just don’t understand their thinking, or lack of it. Is anyone else tarring their hair out with this one?Last edited by hippohouse; 22-04-08 at 06:33 PM. Reason: mistakes!
