Username & password not accepted on Outlook Express
Help.
Left Orange after 5 good years followed by 3 months nightmare with no broadband service at all so totally fed up of calling "Help" desks.
I can access my emails via Sky website but would prefer to use Outlook Express.
Problem is error code 0x800CCC92 - Password & Username rejected. Tried Unlock Captcha accessed via Sky website. This also rejects Username/password. Hours on phone to Sky and at one point seemed close to resolving when technical support said they were surprised that my email didn't seem to have been activated. I can't face phoning again. Is there somewhere I can email with my problem or does anyone know of another way of resolving it?
Thanks

Re: Username & password not accepted on Outlook Express
settings for explorer are as follows
under general tab input sky account name ie your.name@sky.com
input how your name will appear on email
then re-enter sky email address your.name@sky.com
for servers useing pop3
incomig mail is pop.tools.sky.com
outgoing smtp/tools.sky.com
again account name your.name@sky.com
password
remember to tick server recquires verification
in advance use ports smtp 465 and for pop3 995 tick both boxes for secure connection
also go to skymail at sky.com and in settings make sure that forwarding of mail is not enabled and that pop download is enabled
check all these settings and outlook should be able to retrieve emails
i had to do and redo the seeting twice before it worked always something stupid wasnt set right
best of luck

Re: Username & password not accepted on Outlook Express
And just to show how easy it is to forget something, I have just spent an hour trying to get my daughter email working in outlook only to discover I hadn't set up allow pop download on HER account. All other 4 account for my family had been done but hers.
Silly me !
