I had a problem with sending mail through outlook express with my Yahoo account
Error report said port 25 secure.
      Found this on Yahoo site.

My ISP blocks port 25 and I can't send email. What can I do?
In an attempt to control unsolicited email (spam), some Internet service providers block port 25. If you experience technical problems sending email, then you need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server.

Here's how to make this change:

From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button.
      Click the "Advanced" tab.
Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP"), change port 25 to 587.
Click "Apply." Then click "OK" and "Close."

Worked with all three yahoo accounts in our household.

AFAIK Sky do not block any ports so you will be able to use any SMTP server to which you have access.
If they did the Skyuser SMTP server would be unusable by SKY customers.

All I know is that when I tried to send yahoo mail using Outlook Express it failed with reason port 25 secure and that by changing the port number all mail goes okay. Not that technically minded. Just assumed that when it said port 25 secure that sky had blocked the port. Sorry for my mistake. However did solve my problems sending Yahoo mail using Outlook Express.

      UPDATE
Have just logged into my Yahoo account direct on website to check spam folder and it seems that it is a Yahho problem that they are working on. One of the ways around this is to change port number to 587. So nothing to do with Sky.

I can whole heartidly agree with Sky's tech service being utter crap! I phoned them wasting time and money all to no avail BUT have had a good reply to same quiry I had originally emailed them about.
The quiry is similar to to this thread.

SKY have changed their smtp server setting, and now use Google SMTP servers.

Free SMTP server application is available from the following website.
      Free SMTP Server

Download and run the application. You can change the SMTP server to any other supplied by the Domain Name. IT WORKS!
