Email issues.
Okay, I have office 2003 with Outlook 2002.
I have followed all instructions.
I have tried checking and unchecking SSLs.
I have changed ports.
I have checked my username is correct and includes the @sky.com
My password is correct.
Yet I cannot send emails.
I receive them just fine.
But sending either times out or tells me my username may be wrong, which it isn't.
Someone please help me before I take a sledgehammer to my broadband box.

Re: Email issues.
hmmm...sounds like there's an issue with the SMTP server...
Outlook 2003 right?...
are these what you've followed?
Enable POP in your Google Mail account.
Open Outlook 2003.
Click the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts...
Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
Choose POP3 as your server type by clicking the radio button and click Next.
Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
User Information
Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.
Email Address: Enter your full Sky Mail email address (username@sky.com)
Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.tools.sky.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.tools.sky.com
Login Information
User Name: Enter your Sky Mail username (including @sky.com)
Password: Enter your Sky Mail password
Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
Tick the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Click the Advanced tab and tick the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3).
Tick the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Outgoing Server (SMTP) and enter 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
Click OK.
Click Test Account Settings... After receiving Congratulations! All tests completed successfully, click Close.

Re: Email issues.
I have been having problems and came across this, tired it last night and it works fine now getting sky emails via pop.
First of all go here and enter your username and password. You only need to put in the first part of your username, not the @sky.com bit. Fill in the captcha code underneath and press Unlock.
If you can't get past this then there is something wrong elsewhere. Please post what happens and we'll try to find a solution.
If that works then follow the instructions below:
1. Open Outlook.
2. Click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts...
3. Click Add a new e-mail account, and click Next.
4. Choose POP3 as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click Next.
5. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
User Information
Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.
Email Address: Enter your full Sky email address (username@sky.com)
Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.googlemail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.googlemail.com
Login Information
User Name: Enter your Sky username (username@sky.com)
Password: Enter your sky password
6. Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
7. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
8. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3).
9. Check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Outgoing Server (SMTP), and enter 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
10. Click OK.
11. Click Test Account Settings... After receiving Congratulations! All tests completed successfully, click Close.

Re: Email issues.
Okay, followed those steps and I tried both ways.
Both ways work on the test except for the last part.
Sending test email always fails and tells me to check my username and password.
I have done so many times and still nothing.

Re: Email issues.
you won't get the test email anyway so tbh, don't worry about it - it'll sit in the webmail but you can't send yourself a test mail...
have you tried the unlock yet?-------------------------------------------

Re: Email issues.
The captcha?
Yeah, did this.
I am still receiving and not sending.
Am I missing something??
Should I post screen caps of my set up so you can see if I am being a plank and missing something obvious?
