      Outlook Express with Sky

As anyone actually got Outlook Express to work with Sky emails.

Over the last week I've read and tried every combination of setting up a new account that this forum has given me - without luck.

I know that Sky did or maybe still have problems relating to this and just wondered have they sorted them out.

So, are you up and running with the above? and if yes please tell me how you did it.

      Cheers

      Bill

have a look here, there are also links in that page that may help

there are lots of people who have set up outlook and have it working fine,
once you have had a look at the links, if you still have no joy, post back with the problem.

not at all, but I've tried pretty much every windows-based mail client and had all working first time so either the OP is doing something wrong or their mail account is a bit dodgy

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

First thing to ask is can you log into sky.com and access email there? If so have you enabled POP? If the answer to both is yes then following instructions on sky.com help center or from the above link will get things working unless there is a problem with the account or a firewall blocking access.
What happens when you try to send/ receive after setting the account up? Do you get an error message? If so post it here in its full and we can see what is going on.

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

Seems some confusion with the settings that has been given to me.I believe some settings were from the Sky system, and now Google has taken the reins
      maybe something as changed?

      I've been given -( Incoming ) pop3.skytools.sky.com
      " pop.tools.sky.com
      " pop.mail.skyusermail.com
      --------------------------------------------------------
      ( outgoing ) smpt.sky.com
      " smpt.tools.sky.com
      " smpt.skyusermail.com

      ]ust what are the settings?

If your up and running can you send me your settings?

Oh and yes I can log in and use Sky's mail OK.

Thanks again for the help so far.

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

Followed the link for the settings and all double checked but still no luck.

A message now appears with "do not have a valid account"

I feel its just the odd thing which I'm overlooking.

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

Ah not a valid account normally means one of two things either you haven't given the full email address for the user name or the account is not set up against your main sky account properly. If you are giving the user name correctly then something is wrong as you can log into sky.com email and tools which proves the account is there and valid, as long as you followed the instructions and logged in to email and tools and enabled POP then you should be fine at this point.
