      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

At least Outlook Express is trying harder now but it keeps asking for my password for both SMTP & POP?

My password is OK in Sky?

Come on helpers you've nearly cracked it.

This link may help. especially the bit that says:
From the computer on which your POP logins are failing, visit www.sky.com/unlock.
Enter your Sky Email username (excluding '@sky.com') and password, and the letters in the distorted picture.

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

I've done what the link suggests with "disable pop" etc and "capta off" but Outlook Express is still wanting my password even after I enter it correctly.
I feel that if I get by this password problem it may work.

Just as a matter of interest what is the "capta" thing I've turned off ?

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

Erm POP should be enabled for the account on sky.com ?
Have you gone to this link
      https://www.google.com/a/sky.com/UnlockCaptcha
from the PC you are trying to set up? All this does is reset access to the account from for POP.
If its asking for user name and password for smtp too then either something is wrong on settings or you haven't told OE to use same login details for sending and receiving. Did you use your full sky email address for the user name witihin OE?

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

SPA is not meant to be turned on, you need to go to the tab in your settings for the email account that has the server ports on it and turn on SSL make sure the port numbers do not change and then turn off SPA if its enabled.

      Re: Outlook Express with Sky

Will have a look at the SPA abd SSL.

I've been messing about all afternoon with the settings and have got Outlook Express to Send - but will not receive.

      in tools
      mail
      properties
      general

At the very bottom is a check box "include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing"

On unchecking the box the sending takes place.

      Not far to go now.
