No, but seriously, I'm curious to know what are the advantages & disadvantages of using IMAP access instead of POP3 access. Can someone give a brief explanation in layman's terms please?

Re: Sky Launch IMAP Email
ive been wondering the same tbh - i assume it means you can more than one client receiving the same mail at the same time (using POP, once downloaded to a client no others can get new mail??)
the way i see it is, i use my client (Outlook 2007) at home then the web portal any other time...surely that works?-------------------------------------------

In answer to my own question, I did a bit of research and found this nice little explanation of POP3 and IMAP:

So you get the idea of that then...

Re: Sky Launch IMAP Email
Quite right. I have my main laptop set to POP and 'download and delete' emails from the server and my other laptops to 'download and retain' emails on the server. So all my emails finish up on my main laptop, even those I've read previously on one of my other laptops.
However for multiple users of the same email address IMAP has the obvious advantage that it synchronises all users with all emails.
