receiving emails from my Plusnet account

Has anyone setup the details for receiving emails from Plusnet email accounts

I have setup to receive emails from my old ISP; ADSL24 and I get these fine, but cannot seem to get the ones from Plusnet

I just wonder if it is because they run a relay server?

Any suggestions from people who receive emails from Plusnet to their sky.com account

      Thanks for any help

A relay server is what you would send mail via (smtp). Are you sure you've got the server host names and your login details correct?

      mail.plus.net

      Hi Simon

      Thanks for that

When setting up the details in the Sky email Account settings, I added .com instead of .net

In Outlook, would the Incoming and Outgoing details be mail.plus.net and relay.plus.net?

      My memory is totally blank!
      Thanks

Your outgoing will be smtp.tools.sky.com you will not be able to send using Plusnet, unless you log in to your dial up account.

      Thanks for your feedback, Isitme

I am not really bothered about sending mail using plusnet account, as long as I receive ok - well until I change everything over to sky email address

I beginning to think though that it might be best to use a stand alone email account, incase I move in the future

Is gmail a good option and does it support Outlook?

      Thanks again

Gmail is supported in Outlook 2003 and 2007, I don't know about earlier versions. Sky email is Gmail in disguise you know

      Set up Gmail in Outlook

Yes, all you have to change really is the Outgoing server and Advanced.

      The server boxes should read
      Incoming mail server (pop3) - mail.plus.net
      Outgoing mail server(SMTP) - smtp.tools.sky.com

On the 'More settings' Advanced Incoming server(pop3): 110
      Outgoing server(SMTP):465
and tick box 'This server requires an encrypted connection'

This should take care of your Plusnet account. Have a look here for general tips-
