Sky email for Apple mac
Hi All, I've got my sky wireless router up and running ok via self install on my eMac ethernet connection and wirelessly on my Powerbook laptop via the built in wireless capability.
What I want to know is how do I get the Sky email settings required to set up my new sky email address in OSX Mail program. Any mac user out there who has already done it your help is much appreachiated.
One other thing - while browsing this site I see lot of threads mentioning things like upload/download speeds, noise levels, etc all over my head I'm afraid. What does it all mean and do I need to tweak my settings when everything just works since I connected everything up !
Thanks all.

Easy as to set up MAC Mail with your Sky e-mail account. Just go to the preferences of the Mail App and then click the "+" button at the bottom of the left hand column and it will take you through the necessary steps - just fill in the details as shown in the attachment I've included in this posting. It will authenticate the details you supply as you go through the stages, therefore if you have not yet gone "live" with your Sky Broadband it will report a failure.(Remember, at the first stage it's a POP account you are setting up, not a .Mac account).
Hope this helps

When you launch Mail for the first time, or when you are adding a new account, you will see the New Account Window. Set the Account type to "POP3".
Account Description can be whatever you wish.
Enter your name, then your email address, then click Continue.
Enter your incoming mail server and your Sky username.
Enter your password if you wish. Click Continue. Mail will attempt a connection to the mail server to check the validity of the server and ID.
Use the following SMTP server information. No password needed.
You will see a verification screen where you can verify that your information is correct. Once you have verified your information, you will see the following screen. Click Done, and you're ready to go.

Re: Sky email for Apple mac
Hi
I have followed all of the instructions to the letter. I have contacted Sky and gone through my email settings with them and they say the error is not with them. Any ideas as to how I can access Sky email through Apple Mail would be very gratefully received. It's driving me nuts. Also it was my decision to move to Sky so I need to resolve it so the partner is happy again :-)
Thanks in hope
Sue

Re: Sky email for Apple mac
Thanks for trying to help me out on this. Followed the instructions, having first enabled POP on my Sky email. When I complete the POP page it just says POP server not working. So frustrating because looking at this site clearly others have enabled Apple mail. I just don't like the Sky set email set up.
Any more ideas?
Sue
PS
The test card pict takes me back!

Re: Sky email for Apple mac
Leave it with me - I will ask someone I know who uses a Mac.
As for the Test Card, takes me back as well.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~
