Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server
tbh I think you maybe have jumped the gun or our intentions. We would be happy just to have an authenticated login. As long as you prove who you are, you are on Sky and don't abuse the service, its yours to use. And its not as if we could not know who you are
We just do not wish to be known as a spam relay, you know the score.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server
NR how would this affect me as I do not use a sky connection all the time? Would it be possible for me to use the service. I can prove i post sometimes from a Sky IP!

Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server
As for regular users / members there is no issue. When we say Sky email address's if you are on Sky as your primary BB connection, or at time of registering your domains we will accept that.
For example:
rickyc.co.uk is a domain that we would authorise. You put our SMTP server as the outgoing email address, with your username and password. Then when you go to send emails, our server recognises your username, your password and your domain. This authenticates, then your mail gets sent.
We have no wishes to imply stringent T and C's. If you abuse the service we delete you. That way you cannot cause any problems.
Examples of abuse:
Sending Spam
Mailing lists to 1000's of people at a time
If you just want to use it to send emails from your own email address on a daily / occasional basis you can do so. No limits on how much you use it, 1 or a couple of hundred legitimate emails a day, no problems.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server
I have an email account that I have used for over 12 years (really!!) through many many ISPs.
This 'on behalf of' rubbish is now introducing a new email address and I'm now getting email from friends on my sky email when they should be using my permanent email.
If a reasonable SMTP service is not made available in the next few weeks I will be leaving sky broadband.

Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server
OK
We will be setting the server up tomorrow / Thursday, so theoretically this will be available from Thursday Afternoonish onwards.
We will publish the details and instructions as soon as possible.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~
