Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server

This is a discussion on Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server within the Sky Email and Portal Log-in forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I was going to sign up to Authsmtp but I would definitely use this instead if it can be set ...

I was going to sign up to Authsmtp but I would definitely use this instead if it can be set up fairly quickly.

I find I get a lot of emails bounced thanks to the @sky.com email address. There seems to be a global blacklist used by lots of companies that reject anything from @sky.com.

Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server

I would not use it because of having to register each email addy with you - if I buy something from HMV or Argos online I regester at there site as hmv@mydomain.com and argos@mydomain.com, etc as a way, (not perfect I know) of monitoring spam and being able to block specific addys. Therefore I have many potential email addys.

If I could send via a SkyUser smtp using any email address, but with secure authentication when using the server, then I would use the service.

      Thanks for considering the idea.

      Johnny

All it would be is for the following:

      johnny@mydomain.co.uk

      Password: skyuser124

Purely to stop anyone spamming the server. I would assume that you could change you password through the webmail once setup.

The last thing we want is an SMTP server that spammers could use to freely send spam.

I repeat.... We would never contact you on any Email address that you provide.

As for your email addresss and password we would have no interest whatsoever.

The least we could do is, a member of SkyUser with a Sky IP address, is to provide you with an SMTP server.

Re: Demand for a SkyUser SMTP server

In fact, the solution we have is for unlimited domains, unlimited emails. Therefore if you registered the domain as the nominated one, I see no reason whatsoever why you cannot do what you want to Johnny.

Also: I think we would be of the opinion that we would not offer a POP3 service, hence we could not ever be accused of spam coming in. It would be your call to add the POP3 details from your own hosting company if that makes sense. We would only offer you the ability to send email with your chosen email addy.

Brilliant idea for those that do not have their own domains, I voted 'No' but that is only because I have 4 domains and 2 gmail accounts as well as the sky one, so loads of email addresses to play with. :-)

Sounds interesting - I have no objection to authenticated login - which reasonable person could?

So long as I can send from multiple unregistered/unauthenticated email addresses then I would probably use the service depending on seeing the full terms and conditions.

      Thanks again.
