    Sky Email issue - 503 Valid RCPT command must precede DATA

      Sky Email issue - 503 Valid RCPT command must precede DATA

      Some reason I keep getting this on my email everytime I send it ?

      This is on Sky Broadband btw

      Any ideas, will google myself later, but I have the little one today, so I need to wait till tonight before I can do my own research

      These solutions do not work on Sky Broadband if your e-mail provider is not Sky.

      This problem has only started in the last few days.

      I have my outlook setup to use pop.tiscali.co.uk for my incoming mail and smtp.sky.com for my outgoing mail. This setup worked fine until about three days ago. Anyone out there know why?

      If Sky allowed relaying, I could have used smtp.tiscali.co.uk, but they don't, I suppose to prevent spamming.

      If I use authetication to login to the Sky SMTP server using the Sky login details, then it leaves a marker on my outgoing mail, something like JOE.BLOGGS@SKY.COM on behalf of John Carpenter (john.carpenter@tiscali.co.uk). Obviously, this is highly undesirable.

      Does anyone have a solution? Please?

      You will need to switch to smtp.tools.sky.com and put up with the sky.com domain being visible, either that or switch back to tiscali as a provider.

      Hi, thanks for that. However, I do not want to have Sky domain visible or indeed it tagging my e-mails with the Sky account holder's e-mail address. This is highly unprofessional and definately not desirable.

      If I use Tiscali as the SMTP server, SKY will not allow this, as they do not (in fact no one) allow relaying.

      I cannot change Broadband provider for some 15 months, so I have a big problem.

      Please help, someone.

      only thing you can do is purchase your own domain with mail servers and use them as the Sky/Google one won't...

      Getting my own domain will not solve the problem. Because I am using a Sky broadband connection, this prevents the use of any SMTP server other than Sky. This is called relaying and is not permitted by Sky and quite a few other providers, including BT.

      If I could use another SMTP server over the Sky connection, then I could easily use Tiscali servers as I have an account with them, but Sky will not allow relaying.

      Can anybody out there help? Please, I am getting a little desperate at the moment.

      the migration started end of last year - its been known for over a year it was gonna happen - and the past week they've turned off the old servers...

      people are saying that there are programs you can use to use your PC as an smtp server which seems to be working, but there's nothing Sky'll do now as it's not supported any more...

      and I'm on BT and have my own domain working fine with non-BT servers...

      Well after lots of problems I now seem to be able to receive and send e-mails but Tech Support are useless.

      However so far I haven't found any way to add extra mail boxes, is this not possible with Sky?
