Re: SPAM emails- huge amounts, some worrying!
Do you want some Viagra ones? I get about 200 a day or so. Its just random spam. Try never to post your email address anywhere to try and cut down on it. But it looks like spam is here to stay.

Anywhere you use your email addy is one more place that may "use" your email address, I have several email addresses, the only one I have a real spam problem with is my hotmail account as it's my oldest one and I use it for signing up to sites that I'm not too sure about. My gmail gets hardly any and my sky gets none as I am very careful where I use them and make sure I never openly post them online.

Only three people (all relatives) know my Sky amil aaddress as I don't use it and all I get is spam to it. Infact I get more spam to my Sky email address than what my Gmail one gets.
You could get your own domain so you could set up an email address for every person/site that you use, then if you start getting spam to one of them either delete it or change it.

Establish a "throw-down" account (named after the spare guns US cops used to carry to prove that someone they'd shot had fired first). Use that when asked for an e-mail address at sites which insist on such info.
Then who cares how much spam arrives because bona fide e-mail goes to your main address ?
At least that was my plan until lot of cr*p started leaking into Yahoo for the first time ever last year -- fortunately Yahoo seem to have stemmed the tide recently.

Re: SPAM emails- huge amounts, some worrying!
280 a day? Crazy. I would close the account.
Could it be that someone thinks I need Viagra?
I get about 5 a day (junk mail) that is.
They are nearly all for Viagra with one or two from
lonely women who want to meet me.
They must be very lonely, poor dears.
V-sellers are wasting their time with me.
Buying Viagra on-line is like blindfolding yourself.
Then placing your hand into a giant jar of unknown drugs
manufactured in an unknown place.
And then swallowing them.
