      Re: SMTP Server Problems?

If I sign up to authsmtp.com will they give me an outgoing mail server that will go in place of smtp.sky.com?

Anyone use authsmtp.com already? How reliable is the service? Do emails generally always get to their destination?

      Thanks for any help.

Sorry, no experience whatsoever. Maybe best to get some feedback before you decide.

SMTPISSUE - looks like we both have the same problem - let me know if you figure out a new way of sending mail from your domain address? I am looking into o2 BB at the moment as they have a quicker upload - which mabe handy for me.

If with o2 it is simple once again i think - 'smtp.o2.co.uk'

      Re: SMTP Server Problems?

I have got the V1 Netgear router and I send the router log via e-mail at 6pm every day.

The current setting for Outgoing Mail Server is smtp.sky.com and it worked today (04/02/2008).

When Skoogle and the smtp.tools.sky.com server were first announced, I queried how this change would affect sending router logs via e-mail, as there doesn't seem to be anywhere to input the SSL port number:

"On the E-mail page of the Router administration application, there's no box or anywhere to put the port number (465) for the outgoing smtp server."

Does anyone know what to change e-mail settings to in the router interface once smtp.sky.com finally stops working?

      Re: SMTP Server Problems?

I cannot send messages using the new settings, I get the message:-

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Test', Account: 'Sarah G-Mail', Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Have checked all the settings and all look correct.

      Any ideas?

      Re: SMTP Server Problems?

I run a small football coaching business from home, use Sky as my ISP, but don't have an e mail account with them as I use Outlook Express; do these changes mean that I will have to change all my flyers, posters etc., and inform customers that my new e mail address finishes with sky.com, and will all e mails sent to the old address fail to arrive?
Please tell me it ain't so........

      Many thanks, Mark

That bit makes no sense. Are you saying you have yoir own domain or you use Outlook Express to collect your email. If it is the latter all you need to do is make sure it is set up correctly using the correct pop and smtp servers.

I've gone with authsmtp.com and all seems to be working just fine. It was very easy to set up, too, which was lucky as I'm not what you'd call an expert. The basic Ultimate package costs 14.00 for a year, so it's not breaking the bank.
