what do you mean? the sent items folder is for email that you've sent - they shouldn't show up in your inbox...or do you mean messages from the portal coming to Outlook?

Not sure I understand what the issue is but if you are using Outlook Express have you go the "Save a copy of sent messages in the 'Sent Items' folder" under Tools > Options > Send.

      Re: sent messages in outlook

Sorry will try and explain a bit more yes it sounds weird but it is happening.

When i send an email from the website sky.com using my email address it sends it to the person and then send me a copy to my outlook express on my sent folder.

yes i do have it ticked for save sent messages in my outlook express on the sent folder.

Hope this explains a bit better.

All i want is my sent items sent from sky website not going into me sent box on outlook.

That happens to me when I send a mail from Gmail, I suppose you can create a rule or something to stop it.

      Re: sent messages in outlook

I have a very similar problem.

I have an ibook and an iphone set up with sky email. the phone is configured to recent:username@sky

All works as it should from the ibook - but the iphone does almost exactly what you have described. Any message I send from the phone goes into the sent items as it should but then also is received into the inbox after a short time.

      Can anyone help stop it?

      Re: sent messages in outlook

As a bit more info - I added the 'recent' prefix onto the front of the incoming server on the ibook - and bingo it has started doing it as well...

So, I've removed the 'recent' prefix from the iphone, which should resolve it happening on there as it didn't happen on the ibook before. Then I have set up a message rule on the ibook to mark the incoming sent mail (from my own email address) as read and move it into the trash.

Should I want to read it for some reason it'll be there in the bin for a week before another rule deletes it.

      Re: sent messages in outlook

Recent mode ignores all the internal 'do not download' flags on your account and delivers everything (as you have discovered) one of the reasons for this is that it is trying to make sure your two clients are sync'd up properly - i.e. if you send a message from one client, it delivers another copy to your other device.

The common solution is to set your client to move the incoming email from your own address into the Sent Items folder via a rule - this way you never have to hunt around on both clients to see which one has the original sent email.

Proper Gmail accounts now support IMAP so syncing multiple clients is automatic, hopefully one day Sky will follow suit!
