can't recieve emails using outlook express - help

Hi, I need a bit of help with an error message I've got after setting up my sky email address in Outlook Express.

I can send out emails which are received by my contacts with no problems at all, but I'm having a problem trying to receive mail using Outlook Express.
I'm not receiving any replies even though my contacts have told me they've sent emails back.
The error message says: "Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication." and then gives some more information about it. Have I not everything up right? I followed the instructions given here: Sky.com - Customer Support>Broadband>Article

But there's still an issue with me trying to receive mail. If anyone could help me out and point me in the right direction that would be great. I'm new to this so I apologize if this has been covered somewhere.

      Thanks.

Have a read through this thread:

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-e...ns-so-far.html

And perhaps tryu the suggestions in the first post (in red) and the suggestion regarding changing the servers to Gmails (pop.gmail.com & smtp.gmail.com).

The important bit is "Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication". You have the box for "logon using Secure Password Authentication" ticked when you shouldn't have!

Yep as above remove the tick from use SPA and make sure that you have set SSL instead with the correct port numbers.
      If you followed
      1. Log into Sky.com/tools and enable POP in your Sky Email account.*
      2. Open Outlook Express.
      3. Click the Tools menu, and select Accounts.
      4. Click Add followed by Mail.
      5. Enter your name in the Display name field, and click Next.
      6. Enter your full Sky Email address (username@sky.com) in the Email address field, and click Next.
      7. Enter pop.tools.sky.com in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field.
      8. Enter smtp.tools.sky.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field and click Next.
      9. Enter your Sky Email username (including '@sky.com') in the Account name field.
      10. Enter your Sky Email password in the Password field, and click Next.
      11. Click Finish.
      12. Highlight pop.tools.sky.com under Account, and click Properties.
      13. Click the Advanced tab.
      14. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) under Outgoing Mail (SMTP).
      15. Enter 465 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field.
      16. Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) under Incoming mail (POP3).
The port will change to 995.
The order of Outgoing and Incoming mail server fields varies by version. Make sure you enter the correct information in each field.
      17. Click the Servers tab, and check the box next to My server requires authentication.
      18. Click OK to complete this process.
then you have made an error somewhere, did you mistake SSL for SPA? SPA is not used on the Sky/ Google mail system.
