one forward - 2 back
Hi first post from this end so I should like to say hallo, the names Malc, and I’m pleased to meet you all.
Ok that’s the creeping over withso I wonder if any one can help, First of all, yes I have the new sky Email, and if I get a mail that I would like to forward to someone,
I key on forward, then I need to put the Email address of the other party in. How do I do this without writing it in vie keyboard, I don’t seem to have a facility to transfer out of contacts to the forward mail. I should also like to save certain email to other folders. How?. If this has been answered in other part’s just tell me and I’ll clear off.

Re: one forward - 2 back
Hi Malc, Welcome.
Are you using the Webmail interface or an email client such as Outlook?
If you are using webmail then there isn't a button to click on to view and choose contacts. You simply have to type the first letter of the address you want (or the first couple) and it will bring up a list of your contacts that start with that letter.

Re: one forward - 2 back
Rather than Folders, think 'Labels'.
You create Labels for emails using the little text link in the bottom left corner, and you can have multiple Labels per email if you want - so for example, one might Label an email as both "Friends" and "To Do", or "Clients" and "Billing"
Now on the left-hand side of the screen you will see that your Labels appear in an alphabetical list, much like a list of Folders would. Clicking on each Label will give you all the emails with that Label - just as you would see all the emails in a folder.
If you want to create a lot of labels at once, then click on Mail Settings, and then the label tab.
Once you have a good batch of labels you can also set up filters in the mail settings to make email from specific addresses or text automatically have the correct label applied to it.
The important thing to remember is that the actual emails never move, they just have a label applied to them..

I tryed the part about saving the emails I need to keep, by putting a label on them, but I find if I delete the inbox (as one dooo) it deletes the one in the label area too

Re: one forward - 2 back
If you are using the webmail client, Gmail works in 'conversations' and so if you delete one message it will delete all the sent, reply, and forwarded emails. So that might be the trouble.
I thought you could change that setting, and get it list all individual emails, however I have just logged in and can't find that setting.
The idea with gmails massive storage is you don't really delete email, unless they're spam. Which means in six years time you can still find that email from the guy you once knew.

Re: one forward - 2 back
That's correct. Because remember, the email itself doesn't move, you just label it. If you want it out of your INBOX then choose to ARCHIVE it instead. You'll still be able to see it when you click on the Label Heading on the left hand side, and if you click on ALL MAIL then all your archived mail is displayed.
Think of your email as one big list, when you click on a Label it quickly searches through all the emails to list only the ones with that label..

Re: one forward - 2 back
You've lost me now. Let's take it one step at a time.
1. Have you created a range of Labels?
2. If so, are all those Labels now listed on the left-hand side of the page?
3. Have you Labeled any emails?
4. If so, when you click of the relevant Label on the left-hand side of the page do you only see you Labeled email.
You must not delete any email that you want to keep from the Inbox.
Answer those and I'll try to help further.
