      Lost E-Mail / Contacts.

      Hi all,

      Since moving to the new Sky/Google email system on 7/11 I am able to log in on the website and read and send emails, and I have also configured windows mail on Vista via pop settings to import mail and send mail and this all works a treat. However, none of my original emails or contacts have been transferred my my old sky email account to my new account. Sky advised to wait 24 hours then upto 5 days via email but 14 days have now passed now and still no joy. Has anyone else expeirienced this problem, or does anyone have any information about this issue? As I have searched the forums and it would seem that not many people seem to be experiencing this particular issue - they just seem to be that they are not able to get into their account at all!

      Also has anyone been able to set up and get working an email of the router log to the new sky / google mail or an alternative email provider like Yahoo? As even with the email settings being changed in the router setup all emails now get bounced back with an error!!

      Hi

      Like yourself I have had no trouble using email since the migration of 07/11/2007.
      My original emails migrated immediately, however, my contacts didn't and I spent last night re-introducing them as I don't think that they will be "catching-up" now.

      Hi

      Exactly same problem. I use Outlook Express and migrated on 7th. Still waiting for my inbox to appear. Can send and receive fine.

      Have lost count of number of calls to customer services but get the impression that they are in melt down and was told today that it could be hours or weeks before they are returned. Have registered my displeasure but it is impossible to speak to anyone with any clout. when I asked to speak to a manager a few days ago I was told to call back and choose option 6. I did but there was no option 6. Highly amused....

      It seems we just have to wait. Very poor customer communication and will be requesting a refund on the calls to the helpline number.

      So were you folks just using the Sky webmail prior to the switch to the google servers?

      Hi there,

      I have 3 accounts;

      1 just using sky webmail
      and a further 2 that were used via windows mail on Vista.
      All now work on the google servers either online for all or through windows mail for the two other accounts but no contacts or mail have been moved from the old sky accounts to the google accounts.

      At the risk of sounding ignorant - what are the advantages of using Outlook?

      The only advantage over webmail is that you have a copy of your email even if you don't have access to the internet. If that is not important to you then there are no significant advantages for the individual.

      I find Outlook Express a more user friendly format and you don't have to be online to view old emails etc. No need to enter passwords and log in each time you want to use it either. I never used the sky webmail and will only use the new sky google if accessing my emails from another computer.

      you don't need to be online for Outlook either, once they're downloaded to your PC they're there until deleted - so long as you've managed to set up POP in your Skoogle settings mind...
