      Sky Email using Windows Mail

Can`t Send / Receive emails from Windows Mail-- ok on Sky Webpage Portal.Have made all alterations in Accounts from Sky PDF.When you try & Email from W/Mail, you get Windows Security Box asking you to Log In / Password --done this several times no good.Have read previous Solutions, on this Forum and still no good. When you ring Sky, they say their Engineers are working on it that was a week ago ? ? ? Several calls to Sky made, they now say ,its not their problem get thro` to Microsoft Helpdesk, if this was the case, why send out a Sky PDF ? ? ?
Anybody got any New Ideas please ? ?
Ps: My friend has got XP and all is ok--is it because I have Vista ? ?

Re: Sky Email using Windows Mail

I think the sum of our knowledge so far has been posted to death!

On the assumption that you really have tried everything in all the threads, up to and including trying using another email program such as Thunderbird, then I'm afraid you've exhausted everything.

For my benefit can you confirm that you have tried:

      01. the account unlock page
      02. using an old password (if you have changed it on Sky recently)
      03. using the gmail servers instead of the sky ones - pop.gmail.com smtp.gmail.com
      04. using the old sky server - smtp.sky.com instead of smtp.tools.sky.com
      05. making sure windows mail is up-to-date
      06. turned on POP in webmail settings
      07. making sure you DON'T have Secure Password Authentication ticked
      08. making sure you DO have SSL ticked
      09. making sure you DO have "this account requires authentication" ticked
      10. using a different email program
      11. making sure you have used your full email address as your username

If you've tried all of that then I think you just have to wait for Sky to fix your account. Many people have found that their account starts working eventually, I'm not sure how many people they have got left to work through, or if you need to phone Sky to let them know, either way, you have exhausted all the things you can try yourself.

      Good luck!

Have you tried creating a new account in windows mail in case its a profile corruption? Also have you logged into sky.com using those user details and made sure POP is enabled?

I bought a new computer with Windows mail on it and setting it up was a nightmare,I set it up as per book but every time i tried to log into my mail it kept asking for my user name and password and i had been at it for over a week and then i read your Quote here "put @sky.com on the end of the user name" and after that every thing work perfect. A big thank you.
