Outlook Express drops server & port settings

After all the hassle I had with Sky mail since joining at the beginning of this year I have used Outlook Express to access and send my mail with no problems whatsoever. At the weekend I followed Sky's instructions to make the necessary changes for continuing to use OE after the switch to Google and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately every time I turn off my PC I have to redo all the changes after boot-up because something changes some of the OE settings back to how they were before the weekend. It does this every time without fail. When I re-enter the settings it works fine. I can exit OE and restart as many times as I like and the settings stay as they should. It only happens after reboot. Anyone got any ideas or having the same problem

I haven't come across that before - have you run windows update recently? it sounds like Outlook Express is a bit broken, so perhaps it needs an update?

This might help to throw some light on the problem

Save password setting not retained in Outlook or Outlook Express

I found this link, it might help
Sky Broadband + Outlook Express ...
It basically says if you are using the free McAfee that's the problem.

      Welcome to the forums.

That's a slightly different problem, although it is one that has been mentioned on here before. McAfee changes the servers to a local IP address, but it doesn't revert the setting back to a previous state, which is what the problem is here.

Re: Outlook Express drops server & port settings

The suggestion from littleme above was spot on. I have completely removed every trace of McAfee from my PC and now Outlook Express holds onto it's settings. That's the last straw for me with Sky! I just found out that TalkTalk have unbundled my local exchange so I can get 8Mb broadband, free landline calls 24/7 and free calls to every country I need also 24/7. All this for 21.95 which includes my line rental. A saving of nearly 19 per month. Bye bye.

Then I stand corrected. Glad you're all sorted. And good luck with TalkTalk!!
