Email on Outlook Password retention
Hi
Was with NTL broadband before moving to Sky over a year ago i think.
I have always used Outlook for my emails and up until the switch over to Sky we never had any problems with the setup. Having switched over to Sky, everytime that we log into Outlook and click send/receive we have to manually input the password for each of the email addresses. Not a major thing, but a pain if you log in many times throughout the day.
Someone said it was to do with the router settings, but couldn't explain what i needed to do to fix it. I would be grateful if anyone has come across this who can offer a solution.
Thanks
Daveyboy

Re: Email on Outlook Password retention
Nope had a look at both of those links thoroughly and none of the changes have made any difference.
Could it be that i am running Outlook on Vista and perhaps i should just try and move onto something like Windows Mail instead?

Re: Email on Outlook Password retention
What version of Outlook are using and have you got the latest SP3 updates installed?

Re: Email on Outlook Password retention
From what you have said, it seems that you have several email accounts with each one collecting mail in respect of a different address.
Before you get into 'try this and try that' mode, can I suggest that you go into the email account settings and, for each account, re-enter the password and run the 'Test Account Settings' routine to see if it is a particular account which is causing problems and whether the problem relates to the input or output mail server.
As a general principal, the 'save password' setting doesn't operate until you have successfully made an account log-on and it may be that one failed account log-on is upsetting the rest.
Indeed, a failure to connect for any reason will probably require the password to be entered subsequently
As another poster suggested, make sure that all of your Microsoft Updates (Windows & Office) are downloaded before you do anythng else as that can solve a multitude of issues directly.
I recently sorted out a problem of Outlook crashing on Vista by simply dowloading the latest Microsoft updates and there has been no problem since - and that was Outlook from Office 2003.
I am assuming that your actual internet connection is working which can be tested by a bit of internet surfing (or by successful downloading of updates).

Re: Email on Outlook Password retention
I am using Office XP products and have the SP3 already installed. If its not Vista could it be the Netgear Router configuration?
Thanks
