      made sure on the settings on outlook that the box for Log On Using Secure password Authentication is unticked? and only the SSL boxes are ticked on the Advanced settings page?

      I am having the same sort of problem and after phoning sky 5 times was told last night it could take up to 10 days for the sky - outlook interface to be resolved.

      I can receive messages but cannot send anything. When I send the messages simply back up in the outlook, outbox. When I test account settings in the e-mail accounts field everything works fine but until the send test message fails with the following message.

      "send test email message. unable to send test message. please verify the email address"

      I have verified the e-mail address and everything is correct. I have run through all the settings with sky 5 times and everything is correct. Sky have been about as much help as a soggy sock. Last night I was told they were putting me through to their technical department only to get the microsoft help desk tell me they were shut for the night. You can imagine my annoyance. I have now resorted to logging into sky from which I can send and receive. It takes about 10 minutes to get in though.

      I don't think there is any help as its a sky problem. However if anyone can think of anything that may work I would be very grateful.

      Sky may be celebrating 1 million customers but this almighty pheck up is likely to cost them a lot of those once contracts come to an end. I myself wish I had kept my entire package with virgin. I will be returning!!! Rant over.

      try and set smtp back to "smtp.sky.com" go to advanced settings change smtp portal back to 25 and untick ssl. ive been pulling my hair out for days but this worked for me. if sucsessful spread the word

      I had the same problem...

      Outlook HAS to be running the latest SP - am sure its SP3... it will never work without this. I tried and my (slightly ahem dodgy version) would not accept the service pack.

      I have downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird, and set this up according to the instructions, just to 'prove' where the fault was... Works fine, no problems - so keeping the T'bird!

      I had problems sending e-mail until last night from outlook. Followed the link below and updated outlook via microsoft and it all works now.

      Copy and past this into browser.

      Then troubleshooting oulook followed by I use outlook and cant send emails. If you follow the steps from there it all works.

      Hope this helps some people.

      I've had exactly the same problem since last Friday. I've received the same error message after following the idiot's guide to the letter. Sky email support have sent me some proposed solutions which were absolutly no help. I've now resent the form back to them to fix. If anyone has any fix for this I'd really appreciate it.
