Have you made sure that you are on the latest service packs and updates for Outlook Express?
Yes, but the authentication for the webmail is done on the sky servers and the authentication for the pop/smtp is direct to the google servers. ( at least thats what I think they were trying to say....The rest of their suggestions were the total garbage we have come to expect).

guysteruk: How about trying with Thunderbird.

      As Amy Winehouse might say...

      No no no.....

The username and password verification is done on the Google server. There are two points of entry the main sky homepage, and the email portal at http://mail.tools.sky.com. If you go via main sky homepage and sign in then the sky server simply passes the username and password through to the google server.

Either way you get authenticated via google when you enter webmail. It's one of the reasons some people have had so many user/password problems with the portal - they can log in to the sky bit fine, but google is not accepting the details when people click on "Go to Inbox"

Ive changed my settings, yet now, when it goes to download the messages, it asks for my username and password. Ive typed in the password for Sky which I used to log into webmail, yet it does not work

Just to let people know that microsoft outlook 2007 will set up your email automatically, all you need is your username and password and it does the rest. It appears to go off and request the sky settings and fills in the boxes itself Magic.

Hmm, didn't work for me. It didn't find the new servers, only the old pop.sky.com and smtp.sky.com ones.

Re: New Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far...

      Success!!!
I have at last set up OE access and access via the Sky portal. In course of achieving this, I MAY HAVE FALLEN OVER SOMETHING WHICH I DO NOT THINK HAS BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE.
Please bear with me - I am the wrong side of 70, have never posted before, and willingly classify myself as a partially computer illiterate geriatric.
I have read all the posts, followed the Sky instructions and probably seen most of the screens that have been reported and become frustrated, disillusioned and very angry with no Sky e-mail access since the announcement of the changeover to Skoogle. I have not phoned the ignoramuses as I reasoned that they are probably working from exactly the same data that we all are!

When you have exhausted the probable and the possible you have to consider the unlikely and even consider the unthinkable that perhaps the Sky instructions may be correct as unpalatable as that may be!!!!
My logic was that the Google server would not accept anyone that it could not recognise, thus the "Unlock" sequence HAD to be the trigger. I had tried the password change sequence but that got me nowhere and then I realised that we do not know WHAT USER NAME AND PASSWORD SKY HAD FED TO THE GOOGLE SERVER! I am sure that most of us changed from the password that Sky had originally issued by letter and we have all assumed that our new chosen password was now in the bowels of Google. NOT NECESSARILY SO!
I finally discovered by trial and error that Sky had given to Google my original user name coupled with the replacement password sent to me by post 11.12.06. Using this, successfully took me through the "Unlock" sequence and then I simply followed the Sky instructions for Outlook Express.

Access to e-mail via the Sky portal was for me more difficult. For reasons that I cannot clearly recall (but I know Sky help line was involved) my user name for My Sky had had to be changed, thus I have one user name and password for access to the Sky portal and another user name and password for access to my e-mail. I won't go into all the details as to how because it probably will not be of use to anyone else but I have to "fool" the log-in system by logging in to My Sky, double clicking E-mail & Tools (which, believe it or not toggles between my 2 user names) and then entering the appropriate password. I haven't got the b***s to attempt to change the user names and passwords so that they are common, so I will have to live with it together with the horrible original Sky-issued password.

I have just realised how lengthy this post has become - please accept my apologies and my thanks to all those who have posted suggestions and comments particularly for the efforts of Skygoat and NewsreadeR.

      Regards and luck to all.

Re: Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far... UPDATED

==Adding Existing Additional Accounts to POP Clients==
Just as with your main account, before you can add your additional users to your email client you must switch on POP access .

To switch on POP access for your Additional email account go to: http://mail.tools.sky.com and log in with the username of your additional email account. This takes you to the Inbox of your additional account, you can then click on Mail Settings, and turn on POP access as you did for your main account.

the above link is the only way i can access my email account, if i go to the homepage log in and go to email and tools i just get a blank page or http 500 error. also i only have 1 email account with sky not an additional one as i never set one up, so why does your link work and the homepage doesnt ???? i am very confused about all this so any info would be great

right ive tried again on the homepage and the tools/email tab on the hompage url is
      Sky.com - Email & Tools>Tools Page
which is different from your link above so can it be changed on the home page so tools and email is separate
