I'm not sure if this has already been posted in here but using Gmail servers instead of Sky's worked for me:

      pop.gmail.com - instead of pop.tools.com
      smtp.gmail.com - instead of smtp.tools.com

T1 were made aware of it in pre-migration briefing so either someone missed it, they didn't follow the on screen info or they were just plain rubbish on the call. No excuse for it at all as it's part of the process to troubleshoot POP access to email.

Erm Sky BB tech support is open 24/7 I'm afraid so either you needed a different department or I'm working till 10pm for no reason and the calls are all a figment of my imagination

Have set up recent mode OK on a number of Windows Visa PC's.
Works OK apart from every mail that you send, you get a copy sent to your inbox.
Can't find any more info on recent mode.
      Anyone else come across this?
If changing the pop and smtp to gmail works if anyone has tried it - does this stop the problem?

Re: New Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far...

What Email address do you have for Sky? I have had exactly the same problem but the useless helpline refused to give me an Email address so that I could explain the problem and save a fortune wasted on the phone.
My parent user name and one alias still don't work but another alias came to life a couple of days ago. You can go to Sky.com and log in to see Emails which prooves that your passwords are OK too. I was on the help line for an hour last week and I demanded to speak to a supervisor who credited me 5 phone time and tried to help. I think it's a matter of waiting and hoping. Use the Sky.com site until it's sorted and if you have an Email contact address please post it here.

The recent mode does fetch all mail from the last 30 days, irrespective of Outlook settings or otherwise. That includes mail from the Sent folder too. It's the same with the pop for gmail/googlemail too. It's just the way google do things.
Also, if you delete these multiples of messages in Outlook, they end up deleted from Skoogle mail too, again irrespective of the "Delete Sky's Copy" setting. Annoyingly, if you restore these deleted emails on the webmail site, the next Send/Receive in Outlook sees them all download again!! Grrrr!

      Oh happy days

That's just the way it works I'm afraid. There is a way round it (as mentioned elsewhere on the forums but I can't remember where now!) which is to create a filter in the webmail settings based on your email address that moves it into deleted email automatically before it gets downloaded by POP.

I can explain in more detail if you get lost...

Re: New Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far...

is anyone still having problems getting their sky accounts working in outlook express?? i had it working last week then on sunday night my hard drive died on me. i had to install a new hard drive and reinstall windows i setup my sky account on outlook express configured it properly and it wouldnt take password i called sky techy support who said because i had to reinstall i would have to go thru the unlockcaptcha crap again and wait 48 days i have done both waited till wednesday phoned again and was advised to change password!! and wait another 48 hours. i called today for a update and i explained to sky i have always been able to access email through sky website but not through outlook express this week and i was told by sky techy support that the reason i can access email through the sky website is because it is run by sky servers and outlook express uses google servers and those outlook express (google) servers are down. im sorry if i seem impatient but this is getting silly now!!!

What a load of cobblers! The Sky webmail service IS the google server.

Have you made sure that you are on the latest service packs and updates for Outlook Express?
