Re: New Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far...
I still can't log in!
Whenever I go to MySky or the email tools page it still says that my 'login credentials are incorrect'. Using the Google account unlocker doesn't find me either.
The annoying thing is I emailed Sky on Monday and I still haven't heard back, I've tried calling but after 30 minutes of not getting anyone anwering and just sitting in a queue, it turned 8:00 when the lines close so I decided to hang up as I didn't think it was likely that I'd get anyone.
Problem is I can't call anytime but about 7:30 as I can't dial that number from work (non-geographical numbers are blocked) and that's the time I get home.
If they bothered to answer emails in a timely fashion of course then this wouldn't be a problem.
The service really is abysmal. I appreciate they've had problems but when there is no official apology and such a long time taken to respond, I don't really have anything positive to say.

TS is open all day and night for issues, we may not be able to do anything about the login issue if it's migration linked but we can check and confirm the user name information and then go through the password reset etc with you to see what happens. We have been advised that password changes are not happening immediately on the POP server side of things and may take 24-48 hours to kick in properly. The password reset will however happen immediately on the MySky log in page and you should be able to log into that straight away after changing the password.

I don't think any of us would mind sitting in a queue for hours on end (well, ok we would...
) if it didn't rack up larger than necessary bills. These non-geographical numbers are charged you see, rather than being seen as part of our right to 'timely' Customer Service and included in the price plan.
Why not trial giving out standard 01 or 02 Customer Service numbers and see which one customers choose?
Sky are not unique. My Bank, the local Hospital, in fact 99% of my charged calls are to these 0845/0870 etc etc numbers. Drives me insane (I should know - I work in Mental Health...)
Anyway... back on topic...

Re: New Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far...
Really? The last customer services person I spoke to about 3 months ago said that the lines close at 8:00pm and, as it was now after 8:00 I'd have to phone again in the morning!!
I've done the password reset and no luck, it says it's accepted the new password (it even tells me if I'm trying to use one I've used in the previous two password reset attempts) but it then won't let me log in.
The last time I changed it was Monday. Does that sound like anybody on the phone is even going to be able to help me then Paul?
Cheers
KM

Re: New Sky Email Tips & Solutions - so far...
The nightmare that I've been caught up in for the past couple of days is finally over. Mine is maybe a special case as I have only recently switched over to sky broadband and was never on the old pop/smtp.sky.com servers. As a result I never received an e-mail from sky detailing how to set up the settings for the new servers.
As I've posted elsewhere the first problem which took many hours of wasted phonecalls was that I couldn't even logon via the sky.com portal. This problem disappeared as if by magic a couple of days ago. I've spent a lot of the last two days trying to access via Windows Mail without any success. I set up all the settings exactly as the 0870 operators told me but it just wasn't happening.
The breakthrough came tonight when I read through SkyGoats thread again and noticed the bit about possibly being able to access via the old pop/smtp.sky.com servers. I changed the settings within Windows Mail and low and behold I received an e-mail from sky with the details of the new servers. I followed the instructions and magically everything works now! The bit I was missing was enabling downloads via "mail settings" thro the sky.com portal. Although this probably should have occured to me it didn't and the 0870 "helpers" never mentioned it.
As I say, I'm probably a special or unique case but I thought I would mention it just in case it can help anyone else.
