Re: Email Problem Please Help
have you logged into the web portal for your email and set it to send email to Windows Live Mail? if not you need to before it'll receive mail...

Re: Email Problem Please Help
and from the look of it you're using the old email settings - you have to set your client to the new ones...
try the following...
enabling POP on your account: -
1. Log in to your Sky Email account.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Sky Email page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP in the orange Mail Settings box.
4. Select Enable POP For All Mail or Enable POP For Mail That Arrives From Now On.
5. Choose the action you'd like your Sky Email messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
6. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.
To setup OE (i'm assuming these are the same for Windows Live Mail in Vista)...
1. Enable POP in your Sky Email account.
2. Open Outlook or Outlook Express.
3. Click the Tools menu, and select Accounts...
4. Click Add, and then click Mail...
5. Enter your name in the Display name: field, and click Next.
6. Enter your full Sky Email address (username@sky.com) in the Email address: field, and click Next.
7. Enter pop.tools.sky.com in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field. Enter smtp.tools.sky.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server: field.
8. Click Next.
9. Enter your Sky Email username (including @sky.com) in the Account Name: field. Enter your Sky Email password in the Password: field, and click Next.
10. Click Finish.
11. Highlight pop.tools.sky.com under Account, and click Properties.
12. Click the Advanced tab.
13. Check the box next to This Server Requires A Secure Connection (SSL) under Outgoing Mail (SMTP).
14. Enter 465 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
15. Check the box next to This Server Requires A Secure Connection (SSL) under Incoming Mail (POP3). The port will change to 995.
* The order of Outgoing and Incoming mail server fields varies by version. Make sure you enter the correct information in each field.
16. Click the Servers tab, and check the box next to My Server Requires Authentication.
17. Click OK.
give that a try and see how you get on...

Re: Email Problem Please Help
Phew! I'm wondering if I can really be bothered to do all that.
I used a dial up modem to create a Pay As You Go account with Virgin Media and created two or three email addresses. I don't use the PAYG service and have switched back to Sky B/band, but have put the email addresses into my OE program, and they work with the SMTP setting mail.virgin.net
I do think Sky have complicated things too much, and why have so many programs signed up to partner Google? They do seem to be trying to take over everything on the internet, which makes me suspicious!
