Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
Good old Sky.
Never can get anything right !!. If last years signing up fiasco was not enough,,,they have srewed up again...bu this time most people email !!
Sky have change my email to the new Goole Sky Tools email.
Yes, I have follwed the instrunctions exactly to change ALL of the settings on Outlook express. I have checked, checked, checked and double checked it is exactly right and working to a point
BUT....
Whenever I am sending an email from outlook express and cc 'ing myself the cc never downloads to outlook express......
UNLESS
EVERY TIME, I have to go to sky.com/tools, go to settings, go to forwarding and POP, select the pop download botton (download all pop mail) and click save. Then when I go to outlook express the cc'd emails download to me UNTIL NEXT TIME !!. When despite my having clicked 'save settings' (after selcting download all pop) the setting does not appeared to be getting save.
Each time I log into outlook express, I have to then go to sky.com/tools and my email and go through the whole tiresome process again EVERY DARN TIME.
Any clues has to my my sky.com/tools settings are not being saved, when I am clicking to do so ?
I am cheesed off...been trying to rectify it for hours (why didnt sky leave things as they are the google email things is just as crappy as the original and at least the orignal was working !!

Re: Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
Aye, it is a Google "feature"! You can send yourself an email, but it will only ever get as far as the webmail interface.

Re: Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
So I found when I tried emailing myself as a test of the SMTP settings that I had just entered.
Yep. If it;s a mail from yourself, it won't flag for download. Dumb or what?
I guess I can see a certain logic behind it, but it sure makes things confusing when you want to test your email software settings by mailing yourself.

Re: Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
If that's the case, you cant download emails that you have cc'd to yourself (something I often do, so that I have a record of email sent) then that's CRAP.
Mind you, it's all acedemic now anyway.. cant even log into sky.com/tools etc due to system overload. Sky are useless at most things, I wounder if we will all get some money back (refund) for loss of/lack of service ?" A man is as young as the woman he feels "

Re: Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
^ will never happen...
as ive mentioned in another post (although it shouldnt be needed) you should NEVER rely on 1 email account as if it goes wrong you're up the proverbial creek without a paddle - always have a back up and send a copy of emails that are important to that (or make sure they get saved in 'sent items'). this way there will always be a way to get hold of you-------------------------------------------

Re: Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
i can sympathise with older customers who've had a working service but kinda feel that new customers going whole-hog with the Sky one from the off have made a bit of a mistake - hopefully it'll be sorted soon but all i can say is have some sympathy for Sky tech support - they have no control over it either and can only pass it on to tier 3 (who you won't speak to just so you know) and they'll pass it onto google to sort out!!

Re: Google Email. What a SHAMBLES
I have given up on it already, another annoying feature is like the last portal, "spam" gets filtered automatically and put into the spam folder on the web page and so I need to log in to put it into the inbox so it can be retrieved.
Less than a week in and I have moved all the sky.com contacts that I needed to move onto my own domain and I won't bother with sky anymore.
