      Gmail issues

I use Outlook 2003 for my e-mail & have followe the instructions sent by Sky for switching over to the Gmail stuff.

Within Outlook I have performed several successful tests ( Using the Test Account Setting ) all of which pass every time.

I manager to get some of the mails downloaded that were existing on the server, but now I can see there are more mails on the server, but they are not getting downloaded when I poll them from within Oultook.

I'm at a loss, as I have checked & rechecked all my setting and they all appear to be correct.

Has anyone out there got any ideas as to what might be wrong?

      Any input is greatly appreciated.

      Thanks

      Ian

Did it not mention in the instructions from Sky that it may take a couple of days for everything to settle down and work properly on the account?

      Re: Gmail issues

Yep, it did, but then I'd not have expected to get any e-mails down at all.

However. I seem to have sorted it.

It would appear that the server needs a "kick start" via the email & tools options, once you've set up Outlook.

If you disable POP and then re-enable it, it seems to push it all through, a bit like a flush I suppose

I'm now getting all my mails as I'd expect.

      Cheers

I managed to migrate both my accounts fairly easily. However, no sooner had I migrated the second account than a European Lottery 419 scam email shows up! And it's an account that had hardly ever been used before.

may be best to add the new gmail mail server, rather than change your current settings, just until things get sorted. just done mine old sky server works, gmail does not.....at the moment

can see many people getting well confused with this changeover, why did they not make a little program to auto setup?

The answers in the thread below

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-e...ssues-sky.html

I had the same issue. For some reason google doesn't like it when you send test email to yourself. Try sending one from another non-sky account or get someone to send you an email.

Googlemail (gmail) made such a program available some time ago so that people could access gmail accounts through Outlook Express - it didn't work!
