Email From Address?
Hi,
Recently got connected with Sky broadband and i'm having some issues with email...I bought a domain name from 1&1, and have some email accounts setup which forward email to my @sky.com account. This works fine.
However, in addition to this, i also want to send emails via my @sky.com account but only show the 1&1 email address to the recipients (FROM part of the email) i.e. me@abc.com . But instead it always shows the sky email address i.e. me@sky.com??
It appears that the sky email address is always set in the email headers.
I am using outlook 2003 and this setup worked fine with my previous isp (virgin.net).
I would appreciate if someone could advise on how i get around this? Or if there is a limitation imposed by sky?
Many Thanks,
Hung

Re: Email From Address?
go into the settings for the account in question and click on more options...
there should be a field for 'reply to address' and i assume it will be the one replies will be directed to...ive not tried it so not 100%-------------------------------------------

Re: Email From Address?
I've gone into the Accounts within settings.
Added my domain email address;
Set the option to "reply from the same address the message was sent to";
Now when i send an email via Outlook 2003 using my domain email address, the reciever now sees:
[XXX@sky.com]; on behalf of; [XXX@domanname.com]
It's still not the desired results, as i would the following instead:
XXX@domainname.com
Any ideas people?
Folk out there must have come across this issue......must be a way? or an alternative solution......?
I also notice, when i send a test email to my sky account via Pop Outlook 2003.....I don't recieve it!? What the heck is that all about?
However, when i logon to the skys tools to check the inbox....the email i sent is there!?
Must admit, this Sky email is Kack!

Re: Email From Address?
You shouldn't need forwarding enabled, but check that pop IS enabled.
Then, goto Settings > Accounts > Add another email address.
When you've done this Google will send a verification email to your address user@mydomain.com etc - click the link in the new email then go back to Settings > Accounts....you should now be able to set this new address as your 'Default Address'
Hope this helps

Re: Email From Address?
Tried adding my domain email addresses. But i've notice that when i do a send from one of these domain adddresses i get the following:
From: abc@sky.com; on behalf of; Harry [harry@mydomain.com]
Not the desired result.....as i would want -
From: Harry [harry@mydomain.com]
I assume this is a feature and there's no way around this?

Re: Email From Address?
I had exactly the same issue. I have got round it by using the SMTP/POP3 facility of the company I buy my domains from. They were forwarding my email to my Sky email, now I POP the email from them. This cost me £9 per year but at least I have removed the Sky email address from my emails!!
