Windows Mail and New Sky Email

I have just got Sky Broadband and can log into email on sky.com fine but cannot get Windows Mail to receive messages. Have checked all advice here, enabled POP on sky account, set up Windows Mail according to OUtlook Express instructions (cannot find any for Windows Mail) but error message is:

Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com ', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Can get messages in Sky account fine but prefer to use Windows Mail - hope somebody can help me!

Re: Windows Mail and New Sky Email

I have windows mail in vista. Sky are undergoing an Email upgrade and have been for some time, some people have been upgraded some have not, my sky email account has not, the incoming POP3 is pop.sky.com and outgoing smtp.sky.com.
If you also have not been upgraded, could be why your mail is not working, but sky email is very unreliable at present while the upgrade is taking place.

If you've just got Sky Broadband, then you'll be on the new system for sure. Make sure that the username you're providing include the @sky.com bit on the end, so if your email address is larry.user@sky.com then your username is also larry.user@sky.com not just larry.user

Exactly the same for someone I look after and it also gives the same error message for a normal Google account except that pop.tools.sky.com is replaced by pop.googlemail.com. Have not sorted it out yet but bound to be something subtle? All details including revised username is correct.

Re: Windows Mail and New Sky Email

      Help,
Trying to configure Windows mail to recieve Sky Email without much progress. i have set up POP forwarding as directed and set up the configs such as incoming/outgoing settings also as directed. i have tried the suggested remedy below ensuring username matches the email address however i get a similar message when attempting to send/recieve my mail.

      Account 'Donny@Sky.com', Server: ' POP.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server response:' - ERR not supported s8pf2876811uge0', Port 995, Secure(SSL):YES, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number', 0x800CCC18

Any ideas? this is frustrating the hell out of me!!!

There appears to be a space before the server name, do you have a spurious character in there?
