This is not working and I am on SKYBB.
smtp.tools.sky.com was advised by technical help.
They are crap!
Five phone calls later and a mixture of messages, apparantly that will ONLY work with your sky e-mail....
I have read that it has worked for private domains previously but I am on Vista and Outlook 2007 and I keep getting the error message:
Send test e-mail message: Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. 34sm7413662ugh.10

Are you still not able to send mail ?
If so can you like the info you have for both port numbers ?
These should be 465 & 995 ,
Also why not try using Imap as well .

Ok i have read over the info you have gave so far,
Cant see if you have set " My server requirers authentication "
This will need to be ticked ,
Also check the following :
pop.tools.sky.com ----- 995
smtp.tools.sky.com ----- 465
Both set to ssl connanetions
If you still cant connect try to use Googles smtp server for testing !

It is not for my sky mail it is for a private domain and i have tried all the above.
My pop3 mailbox i have purchased with my private domain and like ntl etc sky allows you to use their server to send mail from their smtp server however it is not working. I have read up on it and before they switched they were smtp.sky.com and it worked since it has switched people are reporting that its sending but sending as sky mail not the private domain e-mail address and when people reply instead of replying to the private domain mailbox its sending the replies to the skymail inbox?
any suggestions as mine does not work at all. will not send mail.

Right. I have logged into my sky email via mysky.com and used smtp.tools.sky.com port 465 on my outlook.
In my webmail via the website i have verified my private domain email address, added it as default and now it tells the recipient that the email has sent from my domain email and not the sky one. So i can use their server as i thought to send mail from my private domain.
However.... Now it keeps adding a 'o' inbetween my e-mail address for some reason when people go to reply.
This prevents people from replying, there is no spell mistake in any of the from and reply to email addresses until you click reply!!! :S

THE URL THAT TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO IS:
url for help: Sky.com - Sky Help Centre>Sky Online
help states: "Replies are delivered to the From: address rather than your Sky Email address."
HOWEVER SKY ARE HAVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS AND WHEN A RECIPIENT GOES TO REPLY THEY ARE ADDING A LETTER INTO YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS MAKING THE ADDRESS INVALID AND THE EMAIL FAIL.
I HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TODAY.

I typed the reply address into the account settings, more settings, user information, reply address. (outlook 2007)
And that address has replaced all reply addresses so now i can send and receive mail to and from my private domain using SKY's SMTP!!! I dont need another smtp now, I KNEW they did it as NTL and virgin do too or should i say 'virgin media' does too, yay,
thanks for all the help folks!
