Re: Outlook Express 6 Help Please
have you actually turned on POP forwarding from within the email portal? if not, it HAS to be done for it to work with Outlook, etc...
How to Enable POP
^ taken from normal Google Mail so change the servers to relevant Sky ones and it should work...
and no, we don't support 3rd party clients - sucks really but what can you do!!Last edited by IWasNotTheEnemy; 18-10-07 at 08:33 PM.

In the options do you have "Log on using Secure Password Authentication"
checked? It should be unchecked..

Also, in accounts, under the servers tab you need to tick the box that says "my server requires authentication" and then click the settings button and tick the box "use the same settings as my incoming server"

Re: Outlook Express 6 Help Please
Well, if you say all the settings are correct I am quite stumped. Here is what I would do. Delete the account completely and start again using these alternative settings:
1. Enable POP in your Sky/Googlemail Account. Make sure you click save.
2. Open Outlook Express.
3. Click the 'Tools' menu, and select 'Accounts...'
4. Click 'Add,' and then click 'Mail...'
5. Enter your name in the 'Display name:' field, and click 'Next.'
6. Enter your full email address (username@sky.com) in the 'Email address:' field, and click 'Next.'
7. Enter 'pop.googlemail.com' in the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:' field. Enter 'smtp.googlemail.com' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:' field.
8. Click 'Next.'
9. Enter your username (including '@sky.com') in the 'Account name:' field. Enter your password in the 'Password:' field, and click 'Next.'
10. Click 'Finish.'
11. Highlight 'pop.gmail.com' under 'Account,' and click 'Properties.'
12. Click the 'Advanced' tab.
13. Check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP).'
14. Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field.
15. Check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Incoming mail (POP3).' The port will change to 995.
*The order of 'Outgoing' and 'Incoming' mail server fields varies by version. Make sure you enter the correct information in each field.
16. Click the 'Servers' tab, and check the box next to 'My server requires authentication.'
17. Click 'OK.'
These settings use the google pop and smtp servers, which work. I have run this setup and tested it on Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP.
If these settings don't work, try running the google outlook troubleshooter.
You can use this tool on Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2007, Outlook Express 6, and Thunderbird 1.5. This is only available for Windows.
