      Outlook and additional accounts?

Sky supplied me with a main user e-mail. I am using outlook 2003. It works just fine. Then I set up 5 new e-mail accounts in Sky login, and then set up these in outlook. (I have checked all the settings?)

Can anyone explain why The original e-mail works OK but the new ones don't.

When i test my settings in outlook all 6 pass?

Also I have been told to log into sky and change my setting on "tools" to allow pop3. when I go to tools I get an error message :

"Hello. You've come to the right place for new Sky Email and Tools, but you're a little bit early.
We're upgrading everyone in stages to make sure we do it securely. Your upgrade hasn't happened quite yet but you can still carry on using your original email service and getting your emails by logging onto Sky Broadband - Home. Rest assured we'll switch you soon and we'll let you know the minute it's done."

Does anyone have an idea about what is going on.

My last ISP gave me 9 years of trouble free outlook interface

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

Can I ask what settings you used for each account?

As a test I just created a new user on my account. I know that I have not been switched over to the new sky/google system so I used the original sky email details:

      incoming server: pop.sky.com
      Outgoing server: smtp.sky.com (no authentication)

      username: myusername@sky.com
      password: mysecretpassword!

Using these settings I can happily send and receive email.

Are these the same details you are using?

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

The settings i used are the same as you.

As a test I also just created a new user (e-mail received from sky to confirm)

And then set it up in outlook. The test said successful - NO E-MAIL ???

I don't understand why 1 account works and the others dont?

Also my old ukonline account is still receiving e-mail through sky.com ?

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

I'm not surprised that your old account is working, you should be able to receive email from any pop account that is still active. You probably wont be able to send though.

On the sky mail problem. can I just ask - when you logged on to Sky did you do so with one of the new account details rather than your existing one? I'm clutching at straws now! So many people seem to be having similar problems.

I've said it to others, and I'll say it to you now - why not open up a gmail account? At least that way, if you decide to leave Sky Broadband you won't have to go through all this again!

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

I have only ever logged into sky using the original main user details.

I thought the additional users were all connected to the main account.

I have now just logged into my new test account successfully.

Anyways there is still no e-mail sending or receiving through it.

      I have an idea.

WHen Sky sent me my original main account about 6 wekks ago I original set this up in outlook and eventualy I got it to work, then it was a few weeks later when I decided to set up the additional users.
In that time it seems that sky are having a change to their systems and any new accounts don't work on my machine ?

I subscribed to sky broadband max/sky+ and phone package only 6 weeks ago, surely I could'nt leave sky broadband until 1 year is up ?

      what is gmail?

      Thanks

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

      Hi,

Each user has their own log in for email at skybroadband.com and mysky at sky.com It may well be that the new ones are set up on the new system, but you would have to log in as that user to mysky and click on tools - of you get the message about being too early you are still on the old system, otherwise you will need to change your setup details accordingly to match the new access details.

I wasn'tsuggesting that you leave sky, I just mean that if you decided to leave sky in the future, you would have to recreate a load of email addresses with your new ISP.

Gmail is a free email service from Google. The nice thing about keeping your email separate from your ISP is that if you change your broadband supplier you don't have to change you email addresses.

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

Apparently I have to do this:

"You need to log on to your account and Via "Mail Settings" and "Forwarding / Downloading" set how you want Sky to handle POP downloads!!!!!"

Now I have logged into my sky.com account and my skybroadbank.com account and nowhere is there an option on there for mail settings ?

Am I blind or is there another place I have to log in ?

      Re: Outlook and additional accounts?

      Problem Solved

It would appear that last night Sky made the switch to tools. This has not been working until now for me.
It was mega busy last night, but it worked fine this morning.

So I was able to enable pop in my sky.com/tools log in , and then set my outlook accounts to pop.tools.sky.com as per the new sky settings

All my addition accounts are now working.

      At last.

anyone having problems should try again today it may now work - i'm not sure if the roll out was for all users last night or if it is in groups ?

      Bye
