Once you save it, the radio dot won't stay next to Enable - the thing to check is whether it says the Status is Enabled...if it does you're good to go...if not, then something's up Google's end...

Yes, Sky online mail (provided by Google/Gmail) will keep a backup copy of all your mail or you can use it to send and read your mail.

      Help!

I have never been able to get this to work! either on Vista or now on W7 with Office 2010!

I have followed all the advice on these pages and still get the same error.

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your e-mail server rejected your login.
Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings.
The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.

This really confuses me as use the same log on and password to access the emails through the Sky Email and Tools page so why it fails to authenticate is a mystery.

      Anyone got any ideas?

I have Vista and Office 2010.

I'll copy and paste the details from Office Outlook 2010, and in theory, if they work for me, they should work for you.

You appear to be trying to use POP. IMAP is much better and more reliable than using POP, POP can sometimes delivery the same message twice or can sometimes not delivery the message/email at all, so IMAP is definitely better.

Right, lets see if we can get it working.

      In Office 2010 Outlook.

In the Internet Email settings window/box.

Your name= I have entered in mine my FULL Sky email address

Email Address= Enter your FULL Sky email address

Server Information= I have mine on IMAP

      Incoming mail server= imap.tools.sky.com

      Outgoing mail server= smtp.tools.sky.com

      Logon information:

Username= You need to enter YOUR FULL SKY EMAIL ADDRESS

Password= This is the password you chose when you registered on Sky's website.

Next click on the more settings button at the bottom right of the Internet email settings window.

On the little window that has appeared, click on the OUTGOING SERVER tab. Make sure the MY OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) REQUIRES AUTHENTIFICATION box is ticked.

Next click on the ADVANCED tab. Make sure the INCOMING MAIL SERVER (IMAP) is on 993

Use the following type of encrypted connection. This needs to be set on SSL

Outgoing server (SMTP). This needs to be set on 465 and SSL for the type of encrypted connection.

Reply back if you manage to get it working or if you run into any problems and I'll see if I can help you

Re: Sky Email and Outlook 2007

If its not accepting your username and password you may need your user and pass synchronising.

I think you may be able to do this via Sky.com using the Google tool but if not, call BB tech support and they can do it for you. Also, try unlock captcha. Open a web page, delete the contents of the address bar and type in www.sky.com/unlock. It will ask you to put in your username and password and some of those well dodgy anti spam bot letters no one can actually read, then click "unlock". Might actually solve the problem.

Also make sure you have logged into your e mail on the website and enabled pop/imap for all mail and saved changes.

All the steps to follow are on Sky.com via the help centre (which I do know isn't always helpful)

Re: Sky Email and Outlook 2007

I have to state that this has been the most frustrating two and a half hours of my life.

Despite correctly following all the instructions including UNLOCK I still couldn't get the
e-mail to work, this was only rectified when I contacted SKY Broadband help and they had to unlock something on my account before I finally had sucess.

I have never taken longer than ten minutes to set up an e-mail account before and usually because I have mistyped something when entering the data!

To say that I am unhappy about my wasted time would be an understatement.
