Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
are tier 1 THAT rubbish that they can't follow the call flow which says that users have to enable pop in the account itself?...I can't believe so many users aren't being told to do it when its in the troubleshooting script!!
EDIT: tier 1 aren't rubbish but it would seem there are some very lazy agents...-------------------------------------------

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
best leave it til end of the weekend as the migration SHOULD be done by 2moro and should hopefully settle down
as for leaving an ISP cause email dosn't work?? bit extreme don't you think - coupled with the fact you'd have to pay the remainder of the contract to get out of it it might be better to wait and see and setup a backup account for the meantime...-------------------------------------------

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Don't normally post so forgive me if get something wrong.
I have read various posts here and by cobbling together finally got both email accounts working again. Briefly:
Changed all the settings in my Outlook 2003 for both accounts including changing servers to pop.tools.sky.com and smtp.tools.sky.com plus changing account names to full sky email addresses plus the other buts and pieces detailed on the instructions I received from Sky by email (link to pdf gives instructions which were easy to follow).
Next as couldn't get into Sky.com - Email & Tools>Tools Page I logged into sky portal (Sky.com - Home I think) but had to first check my username and found it must be in the form FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME all caps no spaces and 1 fullstop in middle. Then had to reset password by following the instructions on the screen so now I have a new password but found I must leave my ORIGINAL PASSWORD in my Outlook email settings for both accounts! I was then able to log into portal and retrieve my emails online plus go into email settings and select the last tab (I think) and enable POP settings so I can get Outlook 2003 to retrieve.
Finally, I used the google unlock link (detailed as a fix on skyuser home page) to unlock one of the accounts BUT it wouldn't recognise both! Both accounts now working!!!
Like everyone it is slow and test emails took several hours to show up.
Hope this is helpful to someone as I wouldn't have guessed to use a) the portal only and forget tools and b) reset my password but still use old one in Outlook settings. Oh and btw I found if I log into portal as 2nd account holder I can click one of the various view emails or inbox links and depending on which one I use I can see the main account holder emails rather than the 2nd account holder ones
PS I don't normally post but just to say I have solved loads of problems for Broadband and tv by using this site - so thanks for a great site, I couldn't use Sky without it!Last edited by soozonholiday; 10-11-07 at 11:47 AM. Reason: want to add a thankyou for all help received from skyuser

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Hello All,
My email account was migrated at 1:23 am on the 7/11/07
I followed the migration instructions to the letter.
Since then my Outlook 2007 will not connect however much I try and persuade it. I have changed my password on the sky site a number of times and can login to “my sky” and web email without any issue. POP for all email is enabled, again tried disabling it and enabling it to no avail. Every time I try a send a receive the user id and password box pop up.
I have called sky a number of times and support is next to useless. They told me this morning that it should work by tomorrow morning. Funny that I was told on the 7th that it would be working in 2 days. What a joke........
I have also tried the https://www.google.com/a/sky.com/UnlockCaptcha but it keeps saying the password is wrong.
ARHHHHwill it ever work again.
If anyone has any ideas that would be great
BR Jason
