I have had password problems and problems with the SSL using the new account settings.

To get this working I did this -

I use Thunderbird, but the principals are the same.

      1. I had to log in via Sky.com - Email & Tools>Tools Page, reset my password.

      2. Once logged in via their website I then set up POP mail (just the same as you would for any gmail account)

      4. In Thunderbird I checked all my settings were the new 'tools' ones and then changed my password to the new one

      5. Then when I tried to connect it said the server wasn't set up for secure connections, so I switched off SSL in my settings.

Now this is working! Blumin useless Sky...

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

I've just been migrated to google sky mail.
I already use Gmail so all I want to do is get the few messages from the sky email account over to my gmail account
It used to work with the old mail but using the suggested settings it doesn't accept the password, any ideas?

Sorry I'm going mad, just tried sending a mail to myself without changing the old settings and it still works!!

You may not be able to send via the sky SMTP address, but you should have no problems if you change the SMTP address from smtp.tools.sky.com to smtp.googlemail.com

      Right, been switched over today.

Been and changed ALL settings. Sent an email from MY ACCOUNT to my wife's account, and vice versa, they both went straight into SPAM BOX!!!

Sent myself an email, it went into the SPAM BOX. Did the same with my wife's account, and that did the same.

Getting emails from SKYUSER, but they are just sitting in my inbox at SKY. They will not come through to my Outlook account. Anothers do!!!

Think it's a waiting game for same to iron things out.

I had the same problem as xorro which is now sorted thanks to his post.

But you would have thought sky would get the instructions for thunderbird right

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

My accounts were changed today but only managed to log in once as Sky Techies advised the server was down.

However I'd appreciate it if one of the experts could check the recipe below and confirm I (a novice! have done what is needed to Outlook 2007 for it to work with new Sky Email system.
      Open Outlook 2007
      Select Tools/Account Settings
      Select Email Tab
      Highlight an account name (e.g."NN")
      Select "Change" then:
set Incoming and Outging email servers to "pop.tools.sky.com"
      set Login Info to "NN@sky.com"
ensure Username also has the "@sky.com" suffix
      Press More Settings button
      on "Outgoing Server" Tab
tick "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentification"
      choose "Use same settings ....."
      on "Advanced" Tab
      set POP3 to 995
Tick "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)"
      set "Outging (SMPT)" to 465
select SSL (from the dropdown menu) for type of encrypted connection

It's the last few lines which worry me !! Thanks Peter

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

I HAVE been transferred to Google, and I have activated POP in my email settings. I have followed the instructions exactly for changing my existing Sky account - changing pop.sky.com and smtp.sky.com to pop.tools.sky.com and smtp.tools.sky.com, and changing the port numbers to 465 (SMTP) and 995 (POP3). For both I have ticked "This server requires a secure connection (SSL). My username and password are unchanged, according to Sky, so I haven't changed them. Now I can't send or receive any email, though I had no problems before. I get the attached error message. (I have also tried adding a new account with the same settings, but had the same problem.) I am using Outlook 2003. Any suggestions anyone can make would be gratefully received.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

I too have been transferred, now all I get is an error message which reads " Account: 'Sky mail', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR not supported 5pf336559ugc', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Also, you'd think Sky would have thought to include instructions for Windows Mail. I THINK I managed to change all the appropriate settings, but it's no thanks to Sky. Now girding my loins for a spirit-sapping call to customer support. Unless someone here can help. Please . . .?

Double check that you have turned on pop in the sky mail settings online.
