Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
I have just got sky broadband and the e mail is still the old type, so I did all the settings and I can send e mails fine but I cannot receive them.
I cannot receive e mails even online at sky.com email.
Anyone got any ideas.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Getting very frustrated trying to sort out my email - I read all of this and other threads and clearly i am not alone.
When I use the 'default' settings under Outlook 2003 i.e. pop.sky.com and smtp.sky.com, don't tick any boxes inder advanced settings etc, I get a line of green ticks with the test message - but it's not coming through on Outlook, despite POP being enabled - so I am sending okay but not receiving via Outlook.
When I use the recommended settings:
+ Configuring your email client: Outlook 2003
- Close
1. Enable POP in your Sky Email account.
2. Open Outlook 2003.
3. Click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts...
4. Select Add A New E-mail Account, and click Next.
5. Choose POP3 as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click Next.
6. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
User Information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.
- Email Address: Enter your full Sky Email address (username@sky.com)
Server Information:
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.tools.sky.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.tools.sky.com
Login Information:
- User Name: Enter your Sky Email username (including @sky.com)
- Password: Enter your Sky Email password
7. Click More Settings... and then click the Outgoing Server tab.
8. Check the box next to My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication and select Use Same Settings As My Incoming Mail Server.
9. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This Server Requires An Encrypted Connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3).
10. Check the box next to This Server Requires An Encrypted Connection (SSL) under Outgoing Server (SMTP), and enter 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
11. Click OK.
12. Click Test Account Settings... After receiving 'Congratulations! All tests completed successfully', and click Close.
13. Click Next, and then click Finish.
* Did you click Save Changes after enabling POP in Sky Email? To ensure that Sky Email can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click Save Changes on the Sky Email Mail Settings page.
Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Ok, we have just switched over to Sky BB and our email has already changed to Google.
Have set up both our email clients to the letter mine is Thunderbird and hubbies is Windows mail (Vista). The emails come through ok, but always take ages, like about 24 hours. Have sent numerous "test" messages between ourselves and they always take ages.
Even by checking email directly on the Sky page, they are never there.
Is there a problem with it at the moment?

Morning all.
Just had Email from Sky, saying we are moving,
'Between 7 November 2007 and 13 November 2007, your account will be switched to the new Sky Email and Tools service'.
Not sure how Sky are doing this, wheather it's in blocks of area, but we live in the Notts/Derby area.
We will se how it goes!!!

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Just had the email from Sky advising of the forthcoming changes so I need a bit of guidance from the experts out there.
When I am converted to 'Sky Natural Gas' aka Google, which I loath just as much as MicrosoftI will follow the instructions and change over my one and only Sky email address and do the biz, I use Thunderbird, but can any one advise what I will need to do with my main email addresses that use my own Domain name eg bigold@sausage.co.uk What changes will I need to make in Firefox to ensure I can still use these accounts?
Perhaps I am panicking a bit but I being an ex scout - Be prepared are the watchwordsLast edited by Shonky; 06-11-07 at 11:35 AM. Reason: Correction made

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
We would need to know what keyboard and what program it was launching.

Yep, you'll need to be patient but once the migration is complete things should settle down properly. If it doesn't then you may need to ring up to get things checked out on our side, this will have to be done by a specific department so you will probably spend 10 mins on the phone just to hear the words "I'll raise a form for our email department to look into the problem and contact you".
