Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
I wish I could log into my Sky account! I haven't been able to for months. I am the primary account holder and when I try to log in with the correct user/pass I get a message "your logon credentials are incorrect" I can log into my wifes account ok with her user/pass but I am unable to access my e-mail settings this way and cannot add any additional addresses.
I have tried to change her to the Primary account holder but it will not let me do this either!!! I think that my Primary details got mixed up when my broadband account became active (I already had a previous logon etc before I got Sky broadband). The soloution I think is to remove account and start again but I think that will require downtime so don't really want that.
If I could get the Primary account changed to my wifes, I could just make another account for myself, have to ring them to see I this is possable.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
It isn't possible. Your primary account is created when your sky profile iss first created for your sky services. When you try to log in to sky.com have you tried clicking on forgotten my password? Also have you called sky tech support to confirm your user name is correct as sometimes typos occur. They can also check to make sure the account is not locked as when more than 3 attempts are made to log in and incorrect details are given the account is locked for 24 hours. Sky TS tier 1 can contact sky.com registrations and get it unlocked and confirm your user name, take you through a password reset and hopefully sort it out for you.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Given that I'm still waiting for my Sky BB service to be activated, this question may seem a bit premature, but I've read on these forums that Sky's email service is 'powered by' Google. Does that mean that it's essentially a web-based service? And if it is, does it follow that if I ever leave Sky, I'll be able to keep using my @sky.com addresses indefinitely - just as I could if they were from any other web-based email account such as Yahoo, Hotmail and, indeed, Google?
I've been told that when I migrate from my current ISP next week, I'll probably lose all the email addresses they gave me. Naturally, this is a real pain, and has seen me having to spend a lot of time this past week changing my registration details on loads of different websites. Accordingly, I decided never to allow myself to get in this predicament again but to use only web-based email addresses in futue. If, however, the Sky ones are web-based already, it would put a different complexion on things. Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
Surfup - unfortunately not. Although Sky now uses Google as its email provider (hence, Skooglemail) if you leave Sky you will lose your *@sky.com email address.
You would need to register with Googlemail directly to maintain a non-ISP 'keep-it-forever' email address. This does have its advantages. For instance Google now provide IMAP access as well as POP3 to its servers, which Sky do not yet seem to have cottoned onto. The last time I asked them about it, I got the usual generic spew-out "Sky do not provide this service" reply, making no reference to Google having introduced IMAP access at all. Typical...

Smithy in regards to your username/password problem:
I was having problems getting Outlook to except my Username and Password and found that after completing my details at THE SKY UNLOCK PAGE FOR GOOGLE MAIL Outlook then accepted my details and it now works fine.

I too have followed all the instructions above, it all goes well until it does a test message, then it says the out going server does not recognise my password!

Outlook 97
I have not read all the pages in this thread, so I apologise if this has already been covered. I currently use Outlook Express, and it's working fine on this new system. I would like to have a logo top right, and a custom signature on my mails. This is difficult in OE, and may cause delivery problems.
So I am trying to set up Outlook 97, without success so far. In tools, for instance, there is no E-mail Accounts option. The Help section directs me to Control Panel, Mail and Fax. I have set up an account using that, but it doesn't work.
Any advice, please?

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)
My first day on Sky Broadband and I have been trying all day to get outlook 2007 to work with my Sky e-mail account and it just wont work, I've tried numerous differnent methods and I just can't get it to work using the settings Sky suggest.
Sky have been no help at all, I've already complained to them as they never told me there e-mail was web based and I am furious with them to put it mildly.
Finally I tried the unlock sky username that Karlchad79 linked to and it worked fine, it downloaded all the waiting mails and sent the test mails waiting to leave the outbox.
They wont turn up though, they are sat on the google based sky e-mail but wont download.
I can't understand why it worked once and now wont, any ideas anyone?
Okay this is weird, if I go to the sky mail settings and select again to enable pop (even though it is already enabled) my outlook can then download the e-mail. If Isend another test mail to myself it stays on Sky but outlook can't access it unless I once again select enable pop. This is stupid, I am saving it everytime I do that but it appears to want me to do that everytime I want to access the e-mailsLast edited by martd35; 28-03-08 at 02:56 PM.
