I had it working in WM5, but after upgrading to WM6 I don't seem able to access the login system at all. I have a Gmail a/c and that works fine - port numbers sit as a suffix behind the pop and smtp settings. No matter how I set the configuration I just can't get as far as logging-on to the servers. This is the same if I connect via my mobile operator's 3G or my wifi router through Sky themselves.

I've even posted to Sky's tech support and *WTF* they were on the phone inside of an hour asking how they could help!! I was astonished to say the least. Unfortunately, the chap couldn't help at all.

I just thought I'd ask. I'll post a similar question on MoDaCo and xda-developers too as someone there must use SkyBB and Skooglemail.

Further to my post above, I've sorted the Pocket PC problems with the combined efforts of a MoDaCo member:
I had allowed the PPC to auto detect some of the settings and no matter what I did to change the SSL ports later in the setup there was no way to do this. Once I started afresh, unticked the 'auto-detect' box and added the port numbers as a suffix to the pop and smtp Incoming / Outgoing boxes - ie pop.tools.sky.com:995 and smtp.tools.sky.com:465 - all was well

My next question relates to the newly-emerged IMAP settings on the Gmail servers themselves:
Will these IMAP settings work for SkoogleMail?? I guess they might using the imap.tools.sky.com (SSL port 993) and the smtp remains the same. I'm off to give it a go...

Hmmm, the IMAP server (I suggested) does not exist.

      Bugger!

They don't for me either, but if I switch to the US settings then it does.

hi after many frustrated attempts of editing and cancelling accounts in outlook ..like the many who are trying to migrate there sky email to outlook even after printing off all the settings and trying other things like "gmail.com" and dozens of other "fixes" ..i still could not log into outlook a window kept poping up asking me for the name and password ?? which i entered exactly the same one that is working to get me into my sky web site emails ..still no good ??? ..i then sat down and got the old grey matter working ..there are certain settings that are very specific and are can not be changed ..so i reasoned if it keeps asking me for name and password ..even though i know its correct because it works on the sky web site ?? i then reasoned as that is one of the onley variables that is user changeble ..i went into the sky web site logged in using my sky acc name and passord then clicked onto "EDIT PERSONAL DETAILS" changed the pasword by 1 letter or No then conformed all was ok .. then save
now enter the new password into the outlook details
Hey presto ???? working strait away recieving and sending no problem
all i did was to change the password in my sky account saved it and used that in outlook ...for all those who might be still struglling ..give it a try ..you never know ...it just might be a problem with the way the server reconises the password
      good luck guys and girls

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

If you get this issue then you can also (as posted many times) do a password reset on sky.com (click the down blue arrow next to Login) and it does the same thing. Passwords are stored on 3 servers (skys and Gmail) and sometimes what happens is the password goes out of sync for some reason. Resetting the password refreshes all servers it is stored on.

You may need SP3 for Outlook 2003, get it HERE.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

I use Outlook Express and Incredimail and am the same as the person before me

I can receive emails from other accounts, but can't send any.

have tried using the sky.tools thing for outgoing, but it gives error messages, and just won't send anything.

does anyone have a fix for this? it's driving me crazy

I use 5 different email accounts from other providers and up until sky decided to close down the old POP settings it worked fine.

      HELP (please)

I have set up an SMTP server to be used by any Sky users in distress who need to send emails with a non sky sender address and retain the non sky sender address in the emails sent.

This service is provided free and is only available to sky customers for a temporary period until you make other arrangements.

All I would ask from you is to do is the same as I have and signup to plusnet with my refferal code (harrisonline) using the link below:

You can even try PlusNet broadband for 90 days free!

I placed a link to make this easy for you but that was removed as its against forum rules!

Anyway to get your SMTP account enter your email address
      here

I'll email you back the details of how to use your new SMTP account.

What error messages are you getting and have you changed your SMTP servers to the new tools.sky.com ones and enabled SSL?
