I consider myself Mr average on a PC and after reading Sky's 'Help Guide' I gave up and called them last night.

After 2 hours (2 calls as some nice lady put the phone down after 30 minutes on the first!)....I was able to SEND mail via OE6, quiet happy half way there...and that how it was left as my phones battery went dead.

Anyway today it still wasn't sending mail even though I was told at Midnight last night it would be up and running.

Decided to Google an answer myself and found this interesting forum...and was relieved to see that it wasn't just me (in a nice way!) I too am getting all the errors even now.

Be reading this with interest, thanks.

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

      Hi All,

I thankfully came across this forum when in desperation I did a search "Sky email problems" and pleased I did.

I received the dreaded email from Sky (Google) advising that my time had come to change my email settings which I did (Outlook 2003) and have tried (Outlook Express) and find that whilst my main address, as supplied by Sky.Com on signup some months ago, none of the addresses which I use do not. I have never used this provided email address.

I have spent more time, and money, than I am prepared to continue and having spoken to five different "technical support staff" (subject to deep discussion I think) in Ireland and the latest, Juan in The Philipines!, I have written my letters of complaint. Each of the "specialists" to whom I have spoken have not really been very forthcoming with an answer and in fact the first three even denied they had a problem just a "slight" delay. Being without incooming emails since 7th November - now 19th November even by the broadest imagination can I class this as "slight!"

Juan, in The Philippines read a notice out to me which stated (the good news) is that my other addresses would be manually ported over by Saturday. The bad news of course I still would not be able to send from or receive to my/our (other family members!) email addresses until Monday.

In my letter's (I was given two different addresses for my complaint!) to Sky I have advised that I consider them in breach of contract and basically very poor at communicating to customers and that they should accept this as my one months notice of termination of contract if I am not contacted or emails sorted soon. I have only been with Sky since July.

So, apologies for the rant but I just wondered do any forum members have further information please?

      Regards

      Bryan

and hello to all as this is my first visit.

Same prob. All settings correct and validated when i open email & tools page. I can see all the headers for the latest mails but unable to open Inbox. Progress bar continually flashes "waiting for.........etc....
Phoned Sky Tech Services 12 times since the 8th Nov, same answer our engineers are working on the problem and should be fixed by the end of the week. They don't say which year though. Completely fed up with Sky as I have had resort to phoning eveyone who has sent me mails. How long do we have to wait for Sky to sive us some services on this???

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

I too am having problems for blimmin ages now and the worst thing is I use my sky email for my husbands business so have been unable to send tenders and invoices out it's driving me mad! I was told it'd be sorted by the 11th, we're now the 21st.

I can receive emails on my primary account fine, though none of my others, and cannot send a blimmin thing. I am using Outlook 2002 and have used the 995 and 465 SSL settings...when I test all the primary account all is fine except sending the test email and I get the message please verify the email address field. Believe me it has been verified many times!! I have been and ticked the allow pop thing on the portal. I have checked everything that needs to be ticked is ticked. I have tried unticking and ticking again. I have tried re-typing everything. No go.

I am also having problems in that all the additional email addresses I had set up with the old sky email now ask me for the password and don't accept what I type in? tried adding them again as email addresses through the portal but can't receive the verification email from sky LOL! What fun and games...

I think you misunderstand what the "add email address" is for. Its to enable your sky email to pickup or send from other address's. Additional email accounts are set up on the Sky portal as before. Have you remembered to add the "@sky.com" when attempting to login. As for sending from Outlook 2002 you need to have SP3 - Its available from the microsoft site.

      EDIT:-
Actually i got that wrong...you must make sure you don't have the "@sky.com" when logging into the portal but do have it when using the pop/smtp servers.

Not getting emails tonight so I try logging in the portal and it doesn't let me in.
I used an old password and it let me in but my pop setting had been changed.

Not happy with this mess at all.

      Cheers

Re: New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

      Evening all

I'm using Outlook 2007 & all was well until I tried to send an e-mail from home last night. Nothing happened & the mail just sat in my outbox

Anyway, to cut a long story short I tried a few things mentioned on here but no success so I had a play with the settings & found that by default the setting highlighted in the image below was "NONE"

I changed it to "SSL" & now the send function is fine.
