    Problem with SMTP at the moment?

    This is a discussion on Problem with SMTP at the moment? within the Sky Email and Portal Log-in forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; Now working,but very slow have done loads of tests in and out to my non Sky email. Nice To Have ...

      Now working,but very slow have done loads of tests in and out to my non Sky email. Nice To Have It back,I thought I would have to go back to my good old Hotmail for good.

      Since 9am this morning, I have sent a number of mails to smtp.sky.com and mail.sky.com. All have been received by the smtp server, but none have arrived at their destination.

      I suggest checking that your messages have been received. If you have a hosted POP mailbox that allows you also to send via it, I recommend using that instead of Sky, who, for a large organisation like that, are currently running an SMTP service IMHO more like a dodgy cowboy outfit.

      Their is defiantly something wrong with incoming mail, I have just sent myself an email from my msn account and 10 minutes latter it still hasn't arrived. also I keep getting error messages regarding POP account

      Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.sky.com', Server: 'pop.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

      I'm getting that one also ... though if I keep trying it comes back for a few seconds and emails can be quickly sent. Gah

      I cant see how anyone at sky can think this is appropriate action. This is a multi million pound company for god's sake. I am considering cancelling my BB and letting them take me to court. This is been going on for 4 days!

      Speed and ping are totally unacceptable today. As a supporter of SKY I am not happy. Going to cancel everything if no improvement.

      Why is it taking Sky so long to sort this bloody problem out.
      Sure any ISP's responsibility is to fix the problem as quickly as possible and to keep customers informed. I have been without sky email for 2 days now. What with the speed problems I have been experiencing as well, I am seriously considering telling sky to stick their service where the sun don't shine and moving over to a more reliable ISP.
