Help - not much hair left now!

Finding conflicting advice about setting up outlook express very confusing.

I would like all my e-mails to be sent from and appear in outlook Express.

Should the settings be pop.sky.com and smtp.sky.com or mail.sky.com?

and do I need to be signed into the sky Homepage to make them go in to Outlook Express?

      All suggestions appreciated

      Simon

Simply follow the step by step instructions in this:-

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view.php?pg=outlook

When finished it will pick your email up automatically. The last thing you want to be doing is using the Sky portal it's total rubbish!!!

Thanks for this - but some of my emails still end up in the Sky email page.

Any suggestions how I can stop this?

Not quite sure i follow what you're saying.

My limited (and possibly incorrect) understanding is that once setup on Outlook a send/receive should download/move your all your incoming email from Sky's mail servers to your PC. Any mail which has been sent to you but that you have not yet downloaded from Sky's portal using Outlook will at that point be visible on the Sky portal - until you do a send receive on Outlook moving it to your PC. If this is working correctly you should not even need to look at the Sky portal.

(I am sure somone more technically minded will correct me if this is total cobblers...lol)

If that is the case have you set up Outlook Express correctly ?

Have you managed to get Outlook Express to download any of your mail because you either have or you haven't as it will download them all or not at all. It will not only download some - that doesn't make sense to me.

There is a setting within "set up email account" on outllook which you can set to "leave a copy on server" or not as you wish. Obviously all emails will remain on the server and visible within the portal until outlook signs in.

If "leave a copy on server" is set they with remain on the server even after outlook has copied them down.

Re: Help - not much hair left now!

      Hello,

I am getting all my emails via Sky Broadband online but want to get this set up in Outlook - I have Outlook 2000.

I have been going though all your advice and many others to set up Sky emails to be processed though Outlook, I have set up my SMTP and POP3 just as suggested, I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the sky broadband software as suggested but with no luck.

I have been getting the following error message:

A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. (Account: 'pop.sky.com', SMTP Server: 'smtp.sky.com',
      Error Number: 0x800ccc15).

Has anyone encountered this error before? What would you suggest that I do?

I would appreciate any help, thanks in advance !
