Re: How many SKY + HD boxes can use one router?

This would fall under the device limit for the router, not specifically the number of Sky+ HD STBs.

So I guess the real qustion would be just how many devices can be connected to your router?

Although the IP Address range would indicate that a router can support up to 253 devices, I did hear that many home routers would struggle to support more than 20 or 30 devices at any single moment. I don't know if this is true and I would hope that the more recent top-end routers would be capable of many more devices.

Another important question is what connection do you have the router connected to and will they all be downloading On Demand or Catch Up TV content at the same time?

If you have an ADSL connection that supports 2mb, then you will have problems if more than 2 Sky+ HD STBs try to download something at the same time. If you have a nice 80mb Fibre connection, you might be able to get 5 or 6 downloading content simultaneously, but your connection will be busy.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
