I don't have a map of where they are heading, but there is a positive move in general towards making more content available to watch via the Internet.

The EU Government's goal is to ensure that speeds greater than 30mb are available to everyone in Europe by 2020. Of course this doesn't mean that you have to subscribe to it, but then they don't want anyone to have slower speeds.
At some point we're hoping to move but at the min we're on a boundary between exchanges about 4miles wire length from ours so pretty scuppered annoyingly we seem to be in the middle of a circle of fibre but no plans to get us going, what's more annoying is that the estate we live on is less than 10yrs old ud have thought they'd have thought ahead slightly and built it fibre ready from the start..

It wasn't that long ago when BTO were installing XNTE5 grey boxes outside everyone's homes so that it would be easier for them to connect up your copper telephone line.

Hopefully your exchange won't have to wait for much longer if the other local exchanges already have Fibre.

Remember that for FTTC it is the distance from the street cabinet which is important, not the exchange. As for FTTP/FTTH distance is irrelevant in terms of connection speed, however you may be asked to pay for the installation costs which can be as much as 500 or more if you are some distance from the cabinet.

      PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.
