      On Demand connection problems

HI I have just bought a wireless router to access the On Demand service, but I can't get it to work. It is connected to the Sky box and has a green light and an amber light. It is connected to my BTHomehub. But when I go onto the on demand menu it just says no connection between sky box and router. Don't know what to do Help! Suttie

      Re: On Demand connection problems

Hi Suttie, Welcome to the forum. If you go into the settings on your Sky+ HD box, that's services - 0 - 5 (settings, network), does local & service connection say ok and is there a sensible IP address? If not try resetting the connection (select, red button).

      Re: On Demand connection problems

When I first connected the "Broadband Network Connection" setting was turned off, so check to make sure these settings are marked ON:

      1. Press TV Guide on your remote.
      2. Press back-up to gain access to the top menu bar.
      3. Scroll to the options tab (icon that looks like a person).
      4. The scroll to the customise tab.
      5. Set "Enable On Demand Showcase" to ON.
      6. Set "Broadband Network Connection" to ON.
      7. Leave your SKY box for a few minutes to connect and download information.
      8. Navigate to the "On Demand" tab and check that the showcase imagery loads.

Post back if this doesn't fix your issue.

You say you have bought a wireless router, do you mean a wireless extender? Not all wireless routers are capable of being used the way you want. Make and model please.

      Re: On Demand connection problems

Hi I sent the original router back to sky thinking it was faulty. I've now got a replacement, but am having the same problems. The router itself appears to be ok, its connect to the BT Homehub fine. The problem seems to be getting the router to connect to the sky box. The broadband is turned on and so is the on demand service. But the local and service connections always say fail, no matter what I do. I've turned the box of at the mains, turned it of and held the off key down until it goes red, nothing seems to work. When I go select on demand it says no connection between sky box and router. I've spent 7 on phone calls to sky and don't want to ring again. Any more suggestions please?

On the Sky HD box network connection screen do you get a sensible IP address? That is first three octets same as other devices on your local network.

Make sure the ethernet cable is properly plugged in to the box and to the sender. Do you see a light come on when the ethernet cable is plugged into the back of the box?

No it just at zero's. Been a bit of a computer idiot, how do I find my IP address?

Yes the Ethernet cable is plugged in correctly, it has an amber and green light as it should.

      Re: On Demand connection problems

Yes that's the one, and yes I have followed the instructions to the letter. But when the router is first connected I never get the first screen which says broadband connection detected, even though it says its turned on under the network tab.
