Sky Wireless Connector - good enough?

Last week, after reading the reviews on Amazon I decided to buy myself a Netgear Wireless Adapter - it has great ratings and many of the reviews said 'much cheaper than Sky's device' so I took the plunge. It arrived on Thursday and in fairness it was pretty simple to set up and - so far - does a good job. Then whilst browsing the 'net today I come across the Sky Wireless Connector for almost half the price of the Netgear. That'll teach me for not checking before purchasing.

I am now tempted to send the Netgear back and buy Sky's version. The Netgear is much smaller and can run off USB if you have a port nearby, but is that worth double the price? I'm not so sure.

Are you happy with yours? Does it do what it says on the tin?

I suspect that when the reviewer posted their comments that they were correct. Recently Sky released a new WiFi adaptor which was sold initially for 9.95. It is now selling for 21.95.

In respect of streaming from the Sky router to the Sky+ HD STB, this adaptor is fine.

There is an issue with some older routers, namely the BT Voyager doesn't like it. Your profile indicates that you don't have this router, so you should be fine.

Re: Sky Wireless Connector - good enough?

I bought a Tenda wireless bridge last year - and had all sorts of problems setting it up. I eventually succeeded when I got a new Talk Talk fibre optic router - but recently have lost the connection and cannot for the life of me get it to reset. So I searched for the Sky one thinking if you can't beat them, then join them. It used to be priced at around 60, which is why I bought the Tenda in the first place. Now I see the Sky bridge is selling for 21.95. Will it work? Will I have horrendous set up problems - or does it just plug and play?

It is as much plug 'n play as a wireless device can be. The first time you plug it in you will get a screen asking for the wireless key, enter this properly and that's it. Many have problems with the key, either because they are not entering it properly (the sky remote it not the best of devices for this) or the existing key is not accepted. The majority have no trouble setting it up.
