      Changes Concerning Sky Anytime+

      Unconfirmed from reliable source:

      1) From October 1st the Anytime+ wireless connector is dropping to 9.99 (dunno about delivery charges)
      2) Once the current stocks are done, a new connector is being released.
      3) The new connector looks like an Apple TV, is roughly the same size, is Wireless-N, and has WPS connection. This will also be 9.99
      4) From October 1st there will be no engineer install option for Anytime+, it will be either DIY or Wireless connector self-setup.

That is one huge drop in price. Are you sure you have the dot in the correct place for the Apple look alike? If it is it will be the cheapest wireless bridge available anywhere, they will sell like hotcakes.

      Hmmm... Interesting though.

I guess it will have similar looks to the Sky Hub SR101.

I wonder what the specs will be though? Remember that although Sky's current routers support up to 144mbps, this will be used with other routers on other connections too.

      Re: Changes Concerning Sky Anytime+

Here's another confirmation from another trusted source.

Just you let you know, the story you posted about the anytime + adapter is true. It will drop down to 9.99 from 1st October. All the other details you posted are also true.

It will look like a mini version on the new Sky Hub but it will be black in colour.

      10 is a sensible price.

The cheapest WiFi Media Bridge that we normally recommend people to go for on Amazon is currently 13.35. By the time you add the USB PSU and a USB cable, it works out to be around 21.

      Re: Changes Concerning Sky Anytime+

It'll be the cheapest, but it'll only work with the Sky box hence the cheapness. Also, it's a far more reasonable price for it.

      Interesting.

I wonder if it will only work with a Sky Sagem/Hub and/or if you would be able to plug it into a 4 port hub so more than the Sky+ box could share the connection?

You are probably correct, but I don't see why that should make it cheaper. The Sky routers will only work with Sky(officially) but they are certainly not much cheaper than an off-the-shelf equivalent. I wonder how they have tied it to the Sky box? After all a wireless bridge is a wireless bridge, it does not matter much what it is plugged into.

      Re: Changes Concerning Sky Anytime+

A wireless bridge is indeed a wireless bridge, but if you pay the same price for one that's limited in the devices it can be used with as compared to one that can be used by pretty much any device, then you may be a bit annoyed at paying equal prices. I'm not guaranteeing that the reason for it being cheap is due to the limitations, but a lot of companies will offer a product cheaper if it can't be used elsewhere. Of course this isn't always the case, but it's actually a really nice gesture by the ones that do.
