Re: 4oD coming to Sky On Demand
There is now an On Demand section on the Dave website with links also to material from some of the other channels. Perhaps this is by way of preparation for a multi-platform launch?

Re: 4oD coming to Sky On Demand
It very well could be.
I'd forgotten about the new one from Dave. It was mentioned last week I think on this forum.
It does cost extra money though and since the advertising revenue may not be present, it could appear to be a negative in some account's office.

Re: 4oD coming to Sky On Demand
I have a feeling 4OD won't stay free for much longer by the time it reaches Sky. And that is based purely on what ITV are doing with their player by having a section to pay for shows to rent them. Sooner or later I can see them being like that on Sky.

Sky already has a PPV section. It is called 'Sky Store'
The content is clearly indicated as PPV and you do not have to download it.

Re: 4oD coming to Sky On Demand
Yes they do but that's not my point.
ITV Player has introduced a payment section in their beta player. Shows available for rent include many shows that are in the Library section. These are ITV's shows not Sky and whose to say that ITV won't be changing their offering in future to mimic the online version. My advice to people with On Demand is to watch shows in the ITV Player Library section as much as you can now as it might just change. And it makes sense that it would as that's been a Netflix model for years.
Personally speaking if I want a show to keep I buy the DVD. I like having access to old shows but I won't pay for them for 7/30 day rentals. If people want to then good for them but it's not for me.

Re: 4oD coming to Sky On Demand
No problem there.
PPV is a personal choice and since it is clear that there will be a charge, Sky has systems in place to ensure that you are aware of this. There are some people who spend a lot each month on PPV.
There used to be a huge range of shops which rented out videos and DVDs. Personally I used to occasionally rent videos and DVDs, but haven't for some time now. At the same time I haven't bought any PPV content, but this is my choice.
BTW: Whilst it is clear that there is a charge, the actual charge can be harder to find as you need to press the<i> button once or twice to reveal it.
