      Sky Broadband base not available?

I have been a Sky TV subscriber for over 8 years and have recently invested in a Sky+ HD box and now, of course, have to pay the additional subscription, which, in itself, is not a problem. My beef is that , although I would like to take advantage of Sky Broadband Base (free) , I find that it is not available in my area (01327). The only option that Sky has is Sky Broadband Connect but this is more expensive (17/month) than my current Orange Broadband subscription (12/month). I would have thought that, in view of my loyalty, they might have offered their Connect package to me for 12/month.

Am I asking too much for Sky to accept that in areas where the service is not available, and it seems to me that there are quite a few, due consideration should be given to unfortunate customers? Am I being too optimistic?

In a word, yes. Sky will only subsidise the Connect package when they have plans to unbundle ( put their own equipment in ) that exchange. The idea being to attract customers who will then upgrade to the max product. The base product you get for free is "only" a 2 meg product and is subject to download limits. The way Connect is being throttled at the moment you would be probably better staying where you are or looking to see if any other isp has unbundled your exchange.

Cancellations can give it for a tenner for 12 months.
